They traded someone's rights for a first round pick and a prospect? Am I missing something here?

LeBrun says Seattle are planning on going big in UFA. Hope that doesn't mean they're going after Nichuskin, though I suspect they might given that they're trying to be an analytics-driven organisation. Would suck if Francis prices the Avs out of yet another key player in consecutive summers.

I think that Fiala deal ends up looking like a steal in 4 years when LA is competing for a cup.

EDIT: Saw this on the main board. This is going to be a steal imo. Could have asked for 8+ on a shorter deal for sure.

A ppg winger in his prime and played with middle 6 players…
Also, a guy that has scored over 60 points just once in a 7-year NHL career, was a healthy scratch for his poor play just this past year, and it's the 2nd time he's been traded because his current club was seemingly tired of him. He might explode in LA, sure, but, IMO, he is just as likely to be an awful contract in less than 2 years. $7.875M AAV seems WAY to high to me.

You’re cherry picking based on shortened seasons… dude has 179 points in his last 196 games. 75 point pace for 3 seasons.

He was traded the first time because Nashville wanted to win earlier and Fenton demanded Fiala as the deal. Even passed up picks when Nashville said it had to be straight up. People gloss over how hated that deal was.

He got scratched because he’s fought with coaches over his role. He’s a pain in the ass, but an incredibly talented one.
