I guess it is appropiate time to start thread also about Team Czech Republic for the upcoming WHC. After the NHL trade deadline, it is a little bit clearer. There are also already bigger point differences in the standings.

Potential candidates as of now:

NHL: Voracek, Palat (RFA), Faksa (RFA), Hudler (UFA), Vrbata (UFA), Zacha (possible AHL play-offs), Gudas, Sustr (RFA), Polak (UFA), Mrazek, Neuvirth, Jaskin

AHL: Nestrasil, Pribyl, Mozik, Stransky, Rittich, Pavelec

KHL: Jan Kovar, Tomas Zohorna, Jerabek, Radil, Horak, Sobotka, Polasek, Sekac, Filippi, Kaspar, Kundratek, Nakladal, Kolar, Jordan, Francouz, Salak, Furch, Jakub Kovar, Koukal, Krejcik

Extraliga: Buchtele, Repik, Kubalik, Petr Vrana, Vondrka, Jarusek, Erat, Rutta, Kampf, Nemec, Simek, Vincour, Machovsky, Hrubec, Roth

NLA: Cervenka, Kousal, Birner

SHL: Gulas, Zamorsky

My biggest question is whether Pech will get a shot at least in some prep. games if he keeps producing in play-off. AHL possibilities are incredibly poor now. Only Nestrasil and Mozik would worth chance imo (edit: neither one of them makes team imo)

Who is Pech? I don't recognise his name. Good player?

I'd like Zacha to go. He's really been coming on strong the last half of the year and it'd be a good chance for him to play for his country.

I like Zacha but I am not sure he is good enough. He is still 3rd lline player. On center position we have Kovar, Sobotka, Cervenka, Faksa, Zohorna, Filippi, Horak, Vrana... I don't see any space for him. Maybe next year. He is still very young player. I rather see him in AHL playoff.

I would take him just because of 2018OGs. We have quite a lot of bottom 6 centers but lack top 6 ones. If he has good first half of the season, he can be our second center behind Krejci

Nakladal won't attend. Family reasons. He has had terrific playoff this year. Jordan is currently out with an injury but he might still go.
Whatever. It's all totally fine if Gudas will be available.

Jerabek - Gudas
Simek - Kundratek
Polasek - Kolar ?
Jordan ?

It means chance for Extraliga player. Rutta? Or someone from AHL. Mozik would possibly go. Albany is 8th/9th. What about Kostalek? Is he good enough? I don't know anything about him.

NHL
- Petr Mrazek should come once the season is over.
- Jandac wants Voracek, Gudas, Neuvirth, Vrbata. Although Gudas & Neuvirth are currently battling with injuries.
- Sustr is ruled out due to contract. Palat is questionable for the same reason.

AHL
- Tomas Nosek and Martin Frk will play in the AHL play-offs.

Nice sum-up. Thanks for this.

I kinda like it. Obviously it's nothing special but with additions like Mrazek, Voracek, Kovar, Simek, Krejcik, Rutta, Kampf maybe.. ? It could be interesting team to watch.

Voracek, Mrazek, Gudas, Zacha, Kindl and Kostalek should all join the team at some point in April, if there is no problem with medical check-ups.

Hemsky, Vrbata - both declined invitations due to injuries and 'tough season'.

Hudler - not invited.

Faksa, Sustr and Palat are without contracts, therefore it doesn't seem likely that any of them will join the team, probably only if some of them agree to new contract, which is not impossible, there's still plenty of time left before the tournament.

Neuvirth - doesn't seem likely, the collapse he experienced needs more time and examination, which makes it very unlikely that he will join the team, and with Mrazek, Furch and Francouz, the goaltending situation is more than fine.

No more words on other players from AHL.

Beat me to it!

Look forward to seeing Zacha in action.

I'm so glad they've gotten Gudas. Also I still hope the Bruins will go out quickly so we could se Pasta & DK ...

That would be a big boost for sure.. with Voracek they are probably our best 3 forwards we currently in NHL have
But still, I guess I'd rather see them succeed in SC play-offs

Really? I thought Czech hockey fans prefer medal from championship over stanley cup. I thing you are exception. I personally want strong national team and don't care who win Stanley cup.

I might actually watch some of pre-tournament games just to see Kostalek. Really curious about him. His point totals don't wow, but I believe they scouted him so they had to see something in him.

Rutta, Kampf and Vondrka will join the team (players from Chomutov) + Jarusek (Hradec Kralove). Michal Jordan (KHL, Kazan) is questionable due to injury, but he will try to get ready for the tournament.

So what do you guys think is our ceiling? I predict we will play fast attractive, organized hockey, challenge evrybody and if everything goes well, we might end up fourth or with bronze medal. You know, Jandac signature, he does not really look, he wants to win something:)
