Vats weirdly manages to make himself and Bieksa a half decent pairing. He and Fowler are the only ones on the roster that do it but the two aren't a complete train wreck together. I would put him and Bieksa together and see if Theodore Manson still works.
I think it's because Bieksa know Sami is the offensive guy, so he plays a more conservative D role. Honestly, I think he tries playing like he used to during most the regular season, but realizes he doesn't have the talent to do it anymore and needs to play more conservatively down the stretch/postseason. Bieksa has been playing better as of late, so hopefully he's transitioning his game to postseason form. Unfortunately, we need him to put in some tough minutes the next couple of games.
