People take Mike's words as fact. Fact is his teams have sucked for a long time. A priority for him right now is damage control so he can get another job.

It was nice to hear Gibbs chime in. Its an old quote but I trust him more than the Beaver, every day especially on Sundays.

“He was always there supporting; he was NEVER in the process of evaluating players, he NEVER did that. I know we’ve heard some people say did he get involved with that; never. He was always very supportive....I’ve said that over and over again. I think sometimes you don’t know how the rumors get started on different things, but I’m giving you the straight scoop.

Agree Dan would likely take a back seat to Gibbs, if anyone.

I still wonder why Mike said he had full control of personnel. Why not just say Allen is GM and be done with it?

It was nice to hear Gibbs chime in. Its an old quote but I trust him more than the Beaver, every day especially on Sundays.

Shanahan said in the interview that Dan never meddled in day to day football operations, Shanahan rarely saw him. It was the personal relationship Dan developed with Griffin that Shanahan referred to that impacted what took place after the 2012 season. If you listened to the interview you would know that.

And, me personally, I don't take every word that comes from Shanahans mouth as fact, but when you have Mike Shanahan on one side and Dan Snyder, Bruce Allen and Griffin on the other I will shade to Shanahans side of events every day, especially on Sunday. There is a clear credibility gap between the 2 sides.

In reference to Gibbs, there is no doubt he is God to Snyder. And his status as best HC in team history is unquestioned, but he also had no issues with the future of the organization (draft picks) sold off, by Vinny Cerrato no less, in order to finance his final ride into the NFL sunset. Hard for me to take anything Gibbs says about the current ownership of the organization and current state of the organization seriously.

Skins and DeAngelo Hall restructure Hall's contract:

Washington recently tweaked the contract of veteran cornerback DeAngelo Hall, as he now has a non-guaranteed base salary for the 2015 season, according to a source familiar with the deal.

Under the previous terms of the deal, $1 million of Hall's $4 million base salary was set to become guaranteed on Feb. 15, but the restructure was agreed to in the days leading up to that deal and his entire base salary is now non-guaranteed.

The veteran signed a four-year deal last offseason, though he was limited to just three games after tearing his Achilles and landing on injured reserve.

The restructure provides the team a bit of security from a financial planning standpoint if Hall's injury impacts his return or he is unable to return to the level that he was playing at before the injury.

The defensive backfield figures to be an area of focus for Washington this offseason, as the team allowed an NFL-high 35 passing touchdowns in 2014 and picked off just seven passes, tied for the second-lowest total in the league.

AJ Smith gone. Fantastic news.

http://www.hogshaven.com/2015/2/22/...and-a-j-smith-could-not-work-out-new-contract

Rumored to have been an advisor for the draft since his position wasn't clearly defined. Interesting that he was officially turned loose during the combine. Might have been a matter of letting him continue to look for new jobs, he never found one, the combine comes along and he either has to be there or just cut bait so he can grab another job before the draft.

Todd McShay: Jameis Winston would receive second-highest QB grade he has given in last decade (behind Andrew Luck)

Good. That means Tampa takes him no doubt. Then maybe Mariotta falls to the Skins at 5 and a good opportunity to trade back presents itself.

Good lord, wtf is Dan Snyder doing. The guy has all the money in the world but can't assemble an analytics staff?

ESPN's Great Analytics Rankings

http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/12331388/the-great-analytics-rankings

Capitals are 13th out of 30 in the NHL
Nationals are 16th out of 30 in MLB
Wizards are 27th out of 30 in the NBA
Redskins are 32nd out of 32 in the NFL (120th out of 122 overall, ahead of only the Knicks and Phillies)

WASHINGTON DC SPORTS!

So the two teams that built young, sustainable contenders are in the top half of the their leagues in analytics use and the two teams that have been more or less a laughingstock for the past decade plus are near the bottom. Not surprising.

Jacoby Jones available. If he can be had reasonably, I'd love to take him. It would be glorious to watch a skilled punt returner, instead of the usual "Run 5 yds sideways or backwards before being tackled" crap we've dealt with for years.

Though he certainly wouldn't be as effective here than in Baltimore.

He wasn't very good for the Ravens last year. Doesn't mean he's done, though.

I mean, I wouldn't take him as a valid WR option. I'd take him as a ST specialist. If I recall correctly he was still effective in that role.

Ravens fans were not really happy with his kick returns last season, but if you look at his stats they're pretty consistent from year to year in that regard. So it's possible but I don't know how well he fits as a WR. He'd almost have to be a specialist and that takes a roster spot.

Is it crazy to believe that the entire Dez Bryant thing is BS made up by the Dallas Cowboys for the sole purpose of driving his price down?

Supposedly Adam Schefter has confirmed it exists but he's being cryptic about it. Supposedly some people Bryant used to be friends with are the ones shopping it.
