RG3 did not even have a bad day imo. he made some good passes from the pocket, finally started sliding and had only one ****up when he screwed up that handoff to morris.
how bout the fact that our O line was god awful and we easily have one of the worst pass rush defenses in the league. griffin had hardly any time to make a play before getting demolished by watt and the rest of houston's D, additionally, no receivers could seem to hold on to the ball and without those fumbles we probably win the game

anyone blaming RG for the loss is kidding themselves

It's ridiculous that it took this video coming out for the Ravens and the NFL to put together a legitimate response. The disciplinary side of this has been a farce from the beginning. It's not even like the circumstances were ambiguous - he ADMITTED to assaulting her and knocking her out in the elevator. Why they needed to actually see it on video to do anything meaningful is a complete mystery to me.

Watt was actually moving around in the first series, and Gruden never figured him out.

First series:
On the 2nd and 1 pass Watt lined up over Lauvao and Lauvao received no help! Result? Watt pushed Lauvao into the backfield immediately and forced Griffin to checkdown to DeSean and Watt still got a hit on Griffin.

3-1 Watt lines up over Chester, and again no double team. Result? Instantly mushed Chester into the backfield blew up the play.

And then tee'd off on Tyler for much of the game. But Gruden was an idiot, and kind of hung him out to dry. Tyler got almost no help at all. Considering reasonable expectations, fringe RT vs Top 3 Defensive Players in the game, Tyler actually did a little better than I for one expected. You cannot ignore the run game since its all our OL does. Tyler did fine run blocking. Gibbs would have chipped him or stuck at TE on him. Or ran all over him. Watt killed us in many ways.

Of course, Gruden abandoned the run despite a smashing success. The only way he can buy the OL time is via play action. Its Mike's line and offense, nothing has really changed. Pass happy young OC.

Aldrick in the backfield was worth a laugh. Just like last year, zero break tackle guys lined up as RBs.

Because they didn't actually say what happened in the elevator and there's always a chance she could've seriously attacked him and put him in a position where he needed to defend himself. They kept the story ambiguous beyond the admission of striking her as far as I know, and in cases like this it's not uncommon for people to calm down later and protect each other. He said she bore no responsibility but that's all we were told, and it could have been a front.

This is the first time we have details about how it actually went down. And he clearly initiated the violence so **** him, glad he's fired.

As far as the league or the Ravens seeing the video before today, I'm not so sure. Do we even know who sold this video to TMZ? If it was a hotel employee the NFL may simply have not offered enough money for it while TMZ did. If it was a cop or an NFL employee, different story.

My money is on a hotel employee selling it to TMZ. Revel (the hotel/casino where it took place) closed last week, so someone is out of a job. Get some good money from TMZ (they pay ridiculous amounts for this ****, I knew someone who got like $500 for a cell phone picture of Owen Wilson walking of a tennis court, I can't even imagine something as newsworthy as this) without any fear of an employer coming down on your head over it? Seems like a no brainer.

The conspiracy theory could be that the NFL/Goodell orchestrated the leak in order to have an excuse to increase the suspension.

I understand that domestic violence can go both ways and that all potential circumstances need to be accounted for before rendering a verdict - but my impression was that the facts of the case were never in question. In other words - he was publicly mum about it, but told the NFL/the court the full series of events behind closed doors. I could very well be wrong, but I'm not aware of anything substantive that has actually been added by the video.

Peter King and Chris Mortenson reported in July that the NFL had seen footage from inside the elevator. Mortensen even provided details of what happened in the elevator based on his source's viewing of the tape. Those details match what we all saw today.

Hearsay and media rumors are no match for actual visual evidence. How is this even a question.

Mortensen and King are real reporters. When they report that the league viewed footage from inside the elevator, I believe them.

Ok, that's you, but do you understand that everyone else in the world isn't just going to follow those two and believe every word they say? And the difference between 2nd and 3rd hand descriptions and actually seeing something?

Do you have a link to what you're talking about?

copied from another source:

NFL Spokesman: Greg Aiello @gregaiello
Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice.

So they're claiming this is "new video evidence" and that now warrants an indefinite suspension.

Honestly, this could be Goodell's Watergate. Ricegate?

Deadspin has been great about consolidating the information in one place:

Here's SI's Peter King, back in July:

There is one other thing I did not write or refer to, and that is the other videotape the NFL and some Ravens officials have seen, from the security camera inside the elevator at the time of the physical altercation between Rice and his fiancée.

And here's ESPN's Chris Mortensen, also from July.

We saw the TMZ video of what happened outside—when he was dragging her out unconscious—but inside, I'm told from those who have seen the video, it wasn't pretty. In fact, she attacks him—we don't know the reason why—and he strikes her, strikes her hard. And her head—according to the sources I've spoken to—struck the rail inside the elevator and she was unconscious.

Ok, do you see why this video is different from those comments? Mortensen says "she attacks him--we don't know the reason why". Now we know. She attacks him because he pushed her and slapped her first. And King doesn't mention what actually happened, just that the team and league saw a video.

I guess everyone in the world is just stupid for not knowing precisely what happened in that elevator until seeing it in full today.

The part about hitting her head on the rail is fairly specific.

And King doesn't mention what actually happened, just that the team and league saw a video.

As a reporter that is King's job -to report that the league had seen a video of the inside of the elevator. Whether he had seen it or not has no bearing on whether the league had seen it.

I tend to believe the reporters on this one.

You're missing the point. As far as the public is concerned there was not confirmation that Rice struck first. That's one reason the video is so damning. And as I said, seeing something with your own eyes trumps rumors. You can choose to believe reporters all the time but that's up to you. I hope you don't believe everything you read.

As far as what the NFL knew that's another issue.

And now the NCAA is taking this opportunity to lift the bowl and scholarship sanctions against Penn State. What a coincidence.

That's not necessary. Peter King (love him or hate him -I personally despise him) is a giant in sports reporting.

I did miss your points though -I'm more interested in what the NFL knew than what the video changes about peoples' perceptions.

Ok, I guess that's what happens when two separate conversations overlap.

I find it hard to believe Goodell and the NFL just saw this video.

Regardless, Goodell is going no where, or I can't see him getting fired over this. He is a rubber stamp for the owners. Their golden boy Teflon Don.

When did he push her and slap her?

Yes, timed press dump while no one is looking. So shady and down right cowardly.
