You can be one mile from Joe Louis and to see the Wings you would need to buy Center Ice to get FS Detroit.

The former Empire Network did get a waiver from Canada's CRTC to show Sabres games in Ontario but it hasn't been allowed since. Of course you can get Leafs TV in Windsor.

Has Bettman gone to bat for the Wings and Sabres to pressure Canada on the laws or regs that prevent those teams from having their games shown in what clearly should be their market area, i.e., Windsor, Ft. Erie, etc.? The league should have leverage there, e.g., no more teams in Canada unless this changes.

There's literally no way to stop CBC's signal from entering Detroit and Buffalo's airspace... it's been there since the beginning (and, on the flip side, this has meant that Windsor has no space on the dial for the other Canadian networks and has to receive them all via cable from London). Cable companies don't have to carry them... ATT Uverse in Detroit didn't carry CBC in HD until last year... but they face fan outrage as many have grown up with HNIC as a weekly tradition.

The situation in Seattle is a little stranger, seeing as it's like 100 miles from the border. But I imagine that once one cable provider offered it, they all felt the need to.
