Watch out for Kessel, there is a possibility that he may suit up for the Bruins this upcoming season.

Kessel playing in Boston is a possibility, I wouldn't be suprised either way. He would have to bring his game to a completely new level. From the games I've seen of his as a Gopher, he wasn't ready for the NHL just yet.

EDIT: If he does make the Bs then I think his impact will be about the same as Zach Parise's on NJ this past year.

While I would agree Kessel could probably use another year with the Gophers I think he would have a decent impact if he did make the Bruins, more so than Parise this year with the Devils. He would likely be put on a top scoring line from the start, and has the speed/skill to keep up.

How about Bobby Ryan? He's still young, but could probably make the jump.

I personally don't think Bobby Ryan is ready to play yet.

I think Schremp has a good chance of cracking the Oilers'
line up out of camp but I wouldn't expect more than 4th line
minutes and PP-time.

Do NCAA players need to be 20 to play in the AHL? I ask because speculation in the Twin City papers is that he has played his last game for the Gophers. Not sure what his options would be if he didn't play in the NHL this season.

No they can be 18 or 19 and play in the AHL. That rule is only in play for CHL players. Smid (Can't think of his 1st name) of the Ducks played for the Portland Pirates last year at 18. Niklas Bergfors played in Albany at 18 or 19 last year. I know those two examples are Europeans but can apply to NCAA players to.

I think Schremp has as good a chance as any prospect not named Evgeni Malkin. There's no given Schremp will be in Edmonton, he might spend time in Hamilton although I hope not.

He'd be in Iowa for 2 reasons:

1) Edmonton and Montreal aren't renewing their deal for sharing the farm team. Milwaukee looks like the place that that deal will be switched to.

2) Schremp is American, so he'd be in Iowa with the rest of Edmonton's American prospects.

Not that he will do nearly as well as some of the guys mentioned, just wanted to mention that Luc Bourdon will likely be starting the season for Vancouver.

It'll be a battle between Malkin and Brule.

Brule will most likely be playing on a line with Rick Nash and David Vyborny. That will def. help his point production. I don't know much about the Penguins but Nash and Vybes sounds pretty good so I give the edge to him there.

1. Malkin
2. Brule
3. O'Sullivan
4. Wolski
5. Kopitar

Kopitar and O'Sullivan both have a very good chance because both will probably be in the Kings top 6 because they are rebuilding and both will probably get alot of PP time. If Radulov and Schremp both make the big club in training camp and get good ice time I could see them contending for it but I think they will both start off in the AHL. These 5 guys will probably get the most ice time on their respective teams out of all the players so I think its going to be one of these 5 guys winning it.

Many of you Hockey pundits forgot about Jiri Hudler. With the inevitable departure of Shanahan that leaves a huge void in the scoring department on Detroits top two lines. Hudler will be given every chance to succeed as he is a final contract year with the Wings and they want to see if he is worth locking up long term. Players usually perform better in those types of circumstances especially Euros, (Yeah I said it now give me 5 games, lol) cause they are looking for the huge payoff. Hudler can score, did it in the regualr season and produced well in Grand Rapids playoff drive. He has all the tools offensively to produce in the "new" NHL , he will be a PP specialist and Babcock will get him to play defense.

You have to pay for the information I provide so consider Christmas coming early boys, and good luck to all you poolies, lol

I think that we should all just settle on the conclusion that this upcoming season will feature a VERY interesting Calder race.

We'll have the pleasure of seeing the likes of Malkin, Radulov, Schremp, Wolski, Toivenen, Barker, etc.

I don't think, aside from Malkin, who may be the favorite because of his name (I only say that because who knows what might happen when he gets over here), that there is any one player who's a clear favorite...rather I think they'll all be kinda together and should make the race that much more exciting, I know I'm looking forward to seeing what these young-guns can do.
