Was listening to this exchange on the way to work, painful to listen to.

Especially how he couldn't grasp how trading Myers for a 1st, especially 10th, is great value vs what he brings to the Jets as a third pairing/PP specialist, as opposed to keeping him and he walks for nothing in a year and we have no longterm asset to show for it.
I heard Tooth pushing the other 2 on actually making a realistic trade. It is easy to say trade Myers for the #10 pick. Every Jets fan would do that but no way the Oilers even consider that. Westwood was willing to add Dano, might as well throw in a box of tape as it doesn't move the needle. I found it interesting once Toth pushed it into a range that another team would demand Westwood just danced around. Once someone throws in our 2nd and a Armia level player then we will know if you are actually serious about obtaining the #10.

Why do you listen?? Why does anyone listen?? They say nothing. Offer no insight. Certainly aren't insiders. McKenzie's not coming on and breaking any news. Think about it for a second. Other than the ratings bump from the playoff run this stations ratings are near the bottom every book. And yet no one loses their job. Why is that? Because Bell doesn't care. In fact the station probably makes money because their on-air talent is getting paid what their worth, next to nothing. Why hasn't another market cherry picked this talent? Ralph has been here 7 years after Toronto banished him to the Hinterland. Westwood was spinning country tunes and Toth sat around for 6 months outside the station begging for a job until Bell decided to take pity on him. Hus is the only guy worth listening to because he is at least honest and sincere. And because he's not a career media guy. The station is nothing but a blow horn for TNSE. Ask yourself why the only scribe in this town that has been critical of TNSE isn't on the station anymore?

Listen to SiriusXM NHL channel. Much better hosts and guests. It's not Toronto centric. It's just real good hockey radio.

I think Myers, Dano, and our 3rd round pick is possible. I also don’t see why Petan needs to be taken off the table. The issue with Toth is that he really doesn’t know anything. Is Dano a piece Edmonton might be interested in along with Myers? It’s just as easy to say no to that as it is to say “trade Myers for the 10th OA.” None of them were saying Myers straight up gets it done. Westwood and Rewicki just weren’t taking potential options off the table in order to make the idea an impossibility for the sake of their argument...

Ruicki (?) is the only one that as a clue. IMO Westwood is as out to lunch as Toth, just more annoying. Chevy's real life landscape to acquire a high pick is at a far greater price than what internet posters are willing to pay. Once someone offers a deal they think is too much, that would be approx what the other fanbases' starting point is.

"Make a realistic trade, but no Dano or Petan, and it has to include the Jets second this year"

Eh, seems like a pretty strict premise for making a trade. Toth doesn't have a clue what Chia wants. What matters more to Edmonton, a 60th pick that may be an NHLer in 4 years, or a guy who costs less than a million who could be an NHLer for you this year? Talbot is not getting any older and Chia will be long gone in 4 years if they don't start winning

Guess we’ll see. I think Toth is hugely more annoying than Westwood. And Westwood and B rew are often on the same page so not sure how Westwood doesn’t have a clue but Rewicki does. But whatever.

Also, this draft isn’t considered to be that great right? So I don’t know if the 10th overall is quite as valuable as it might seem...

All teams have their versions of Dano and Petan, NHL-AHL tweeners. Jets fans value Petan far more than any other fan base would. I think making an offer that includes our 2nd makes it much more realistic over pieces no one wants. Now it starts getting a little painful. Schneider went for a 9th OV pick a couple years back with approx 100 NHL games on his resume and just under a .930 career save%. That would peg the value of #10 closer to Helly than Myers at this time of year when picks are grossly over valued. No Jets fan would do it, just like no Oiler fan wants to move their 10th OV for Myers.

I don't care about Oilers fans? This is in the Jets forum talking about Toth. Their opinions on trades don't matter in this context. Chia needs to win now and the Oilers are laughably weak on the wings and have a whole lot of nothing coming up after Yamamoto. Every person on this board could see Chia lose in a trade for the 10OA and would not be surprised.

"Realistic trades" when involving Chiarelli. ;)

lol I heard that - I think he had Little in there as well. I guess after a run to the conference finals, the next logical step is to pack up 4 roster players for a magic bean (it's a really nice bean though!)...

Perrault and Myers might get you that 10OA. Then leave you a butt ton of cap room. Just sayin’.

They are the most likely candidates to be moved for cap space, 1 this year and the other next year. That is just to stay within the cap. It does not provide any extra space. Just permits breathing.

My guess is that Chia would prefer a winger younger than MP and a Dman under contract longer than Myers. I'm certain he would also prefer cheaper. Otherwise though, I think they are pretty good fits for his needs. Shouldn't have any trouble signing Myers. The age gives them more leadership.

They couldn't handle that cap hit though. We would need to take some back. Klef would do it but now we need to add more value - even for Chia. :sarcasm: Chiarot + Dano + 5th! :D

Listening to the Big Show talk about Nichols coming back. They were expecting him to come in and start throwing down field more. Its like they don’t know who Nichols is. This is the same Nichols who refused to throw the ball more than 5 yards against the Riders last year.

I’m not saying Nichols is bad. He’s average. But he’s not a big down field thrower.
