I'm sure Dorian had some say in the Phaneuf and Ryan deals. So it doesn't really absolve management in saying that they had to make a Zibanejad trade. Furthermore, you sell on him high.

We've just had terrible management for a while and having Karlsson disillusions people.

I think this team is a lot more competitive with Phaneuf than without him.

Wiercioch? Cowen? Yeesh.

That was on Murray for trying to win with a young top-four. It just doesn't work.

I agree. Phaneuf was a necessary evil. But the Ryan and Phaneuf contracts are still two of the worst ones in the league.

Also with contracts like Burrows, Thompson, Boro, Smith ( good player but slightly overpaid), McCormick, Dorian isn't looking much better in cap management than Murray.

This habit of overpaying 4th liners and ahlers needs to stop. But we value intangibles too much for that to ever happen.

We can't evaluate an NHL GM's performance solely on the big trades he makes.

What about the depth signings that are currently in Belleville? These also need to be assessed as part of Dorion's evaluation.

Remember when the Danny Taylor signing was absolutely necessary to solidify our goaltending depth? Well, Danny Taylor just gave up 7 the other night and his GAA is now at 4.16. He is also being severely outplayed by the guy we couldn't wait to get rid of, yet the guy we also are forced to keep Andrew Hammond.

Tyler Randell, the veteran leader needed in Belleville, healthy scratch the other night.

Lets not forget that one-way contract Dorion signed Mad Max for next year.

All these are still very minor, but signing Taylor and ultimately keeping Hammond around is blocking the development of our top goaltending prospect, while guys like Max MacCormick and Reinhart are eating up far to much ice time in Belleville. McCormick is also going to occupy a roster spot next year, ultimately blocking a more talented player from playing with the Sens.

To be quite honest with you I am getting sick of McCormick.

McCormick's been good in Belleville & is tied for second in scoring down there. At least he's a guy they drafted & have developed, there are a number of other guys down there that shouldn't be there. And he's every bit as good & I would argue better than Dumont but he's still a 4th liner at best in the NHL.
