We can't evaluate an NHL GM's performance solely on the big trades he makes.
What about the depth signings that are currently in Belleville? These also need to be assessed as part of Dorion's evaluation.
Remember when the Danny Taylor signing was absolutely necessary to solidify our goaltending depth? Well, Danny Taylor just gave up 7 the other night and his GAA is now at 4.16. He is also being severely outplayed by the guy we couldn't wait to get rid of, yet the guy we also are forced to keep Andrew Hammond.
Tyler Randell, the veteran leader needed in Belleville, healthy scratch the other night.
Lets not forget that one-way contract Dorion signed Mad Max for next year.
All these are still very minor, but signing Taylor and ultimately keeping Hammond around is blocking the development of our top goaltending prospect, while guys like Max MacCormick and Reinhart are eating up far to much ice time in Belleville. McCormick is also going to occupy a roster spot next year, ultimately blocking a more talented player from playing with the Sens.
