What a game! What day! The boys honored Ladd tonight by playing like that. Armia could be quite something. He would be so much more dangerous if he wasn't playing with Lowry and Thorbs. Management should take a note and surround our young players with good veteren depth next season

Nope. Keep the youth wave coming. We will likely have a top 5 pick this season and another 1st. We will have Connor, Dano and maybe Morrissey, Lemieux or Petan as well coming aboard next season. It is not a bad thing to keep let these kids developing. Give them a few years and when they really start hitting their stride then worry about giving them any needed veteran depth.

Think that Chevy will shed veterans every year and let the youthful core slowly take over this team. It won't happen overnight and there will be a few head scratchers. Could be a few more trades at the deadline.

I think so as well. IMO tonight marks a definite step towards the future. This team will be built around the young core with a handful of veteran leadership to help lead the way.

Dallas could really use a guy like Enstrom to shut things down and move the puck out of the zone quickly

unless they can somehow find a 3 or 4 dman before playoffs they have no shot winning the cup.

as much as i want a top 3 draft pick winning and the way these young kids are playing is really fun to see

You need good players to complement your rookies/young players. Dumping young players into the league you get a team like the Moose. Look at Copp play day in day out with Peluso and Hali, is that good for his develeopment? same for Armia playing guys like Thorbs. Now imagine next season our young players on 3rd, 4th lines playing with the likes of Stempniak or Mathias or Lars Eller who can make a pass.

All the tanking teams won, Calgary tied so far, seems like no harm was done to the tank despite the win

Disagree we will have a couple of seasons of the kids learning their roles. You may move out the real dead weight (Thor, Stu and Peluso) but I wouldn't be looking for the more skilled older depth vets like Stemp to take roles the kids will be moving in to. They won't be contending for a couple years so no use limiting opportunities for the youngsters to develop. Veteran leadership will be provided by the remaining members of the older core (Wheeler, Little and Buff). In 2-4 years this group may be really strong.

You can't win with youth alone.
Why do you think the real contenders pick up vets at TDL. The good teams would prefer keeping more vets except the salary cap stops them.

How's that young team with all those top picks doing? What ... they're picking #1 again.

It's good to see how the players and coaches have reacted to Ladd being traded. He meant a lot to them and it really goes against the idea that Ladd wasn't a good leader. Won't say he might not have had his warts, but it seems overall he was a big positive.
