Adrenaline kicks in and a player doesn't realize the extent of the injury. Probably thought it was a nasty bruise. I played with a broken forearm and didn't know how bad the injury was until after the game.playoffs or some critical game: badass sacrifice to win.

This is literally exactly what happened to Larsson, got injured in the last minute of the first period and played the rest of the game (22:19) on a broken fibula.
