Adrenaline kicks in and a player doesn't realize the extent of the injury. Probably thought it was a nasty bruise. I played with a broken forearm and didn't know how bad the injury was until after the game.

I guess a shot like that might feel like an ordinary hard shot. I hit a rock with my face once and broke my jaw and it hurt less than another incident where nothing got broken. I was more thinking along the lines of erring on the side of caution during a fairly meaningless game where as a player you're going to be in straight up denial when the game is really important. Hard to take the long view when you're in the game though, true.

This is literally exactly what happened to Larsson, got injured in the last minute of the first period and played the rest of the game (22:19) on a broken fibula.

Bet you couldn't even notice a difference, he sucks either way.
