Sounds like you had some moronic coaches. The puck had moved on, the last thing you want to do is create a scene and leave it up the refs discretion of which player to send off, especially in the game managed NHL. Easier to let go of your stick and point out that he has your stick, especially in the O-zone.Any coach I had in AA/AAA would’ve had any player that let that happen to their stick doing line sprints or bag skates to start next practice. Coaches hate it when their players are soft when dealing with this type of “you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying” stuff. They’d be more mad about this than they’d get over letting hard passes explode off your blade upon receiving it because you weren’t ready/holding your stick right.
If you’re in a scrum where the ref doesn’t see another player knock your stick out of your hands because you’re not paying attention and then that player scores a goal because you can’t stick check them, are you just going to whine to the refs? Is an NHL coach going to give you a pass? Bobby Ryan did it much smarter than Zegras and scored a goal with the wrong stick for crying out loud.
Last time I saw a toxic masculinity shit take like this was when Granlund did a michigan at the worlds and there were posts like "Can't do that in the NHL boy, you will lose your head if you do that."Chill dude. If anything I’d be more embarrassed to be Kiviranta letting his stick be taken right out of his hands.
Ducks leadership at it's finest no wonder they blow.
Ah yes, toxically masculine when I'm indirectly defending the guy known for pulling Michigans and alley oop passes in the NHL (which I have no problem with). Toxically masculine would've been suggesting Zegras relive the Beagle situation over again, which was also bullshit from the Coyotes. Kiviranta got the better outcome of the situation with the penalty drawn, good on him, but you shouldn't be letting someone take your stick from you.Last time I saw a toxic masculinity shit take like this was when Granlund did a michigan at the worlds and there were posts like "Can't do that in the NHL boy, you will lose your head if you do that."
When you have refs that suck, and are more concerned with game management than the rulebook, you get players who think they can get away with this blatant nonsense.
Nobody said they never make the right call. The point is that officiating incompetence promotes players trying garbage like this in the first place. Not sure what the Leafs have to do with anything, but I'm not surprised that a Lightning fan sees nothing wrong with officiating. I guess it's hard to acknowledge the faults of guys who win series for you. Then why did they make the right call?
Oh right cause the Leafs lost in the first round for the upteenth time.

I hope I see this happen in my lifetime.Would be funny if it was a goalie stick and he still pleaded innocent
Dude is from Westchester right? Probably told the refs ‘You can’t do this. Do you have any idea who my father is?’
Makar = Tells ref to call off the powerplay
Zegres = Lies then whines defending his lie
Makar = Tells ref to call off the powerplay because he was worried about getting called for a dive.
Zegras = Lies then has funny interview about his play and jokes about getting caught.
The least you could do is spell his name right.

lol why would media and fans be calling out zegras for something that's more comedy than anything? There was no call for embellishment on the play, are you implying he feared the refs would have huddled to make a call later?
He was probably worried about being called out by the media and fans, hence his interview to save face.
No more mystery
Lmao @ him saying he found it on the ice. That'll definitely be in the end-of-the-year bloopers video
