The most impressive part of this wasn't the lacrosse goal itself, it was the pure skill displayed on a combination of two scoring chances... the between the legs shot into the lacrosse goal. Skill plays come so naturally and instinctively due to his extremely high confidence in his skills.

Yep, that’s exactly it and it’s why these posts about how he could have just as easily scored with a simple play miss the point - it’s just a regular move in his arsenal that he doesn’t worry about not being able to execute. Minor things like the puck being slightly on edge are enough to make this the easiest solution to him.

Cue incoming failed Michigan attempt by Matthews.

He leads the league in goals and also in failed Michigan attempts. I think there's a correlation between the timing of a successful lacrosse-style goal followed by one of his attempts. Let's see if he goes for one on Saturday night...

Ah, so goalies became too good at dmcovering the wrap-around type of goals and players are adapting? We'll need eyes behind our masks soon lol!

What a beauty of a sequence. Just so natural for Zegras. The league can only benefit from this!

Still hate those goals and think they should be disallowed. Player shouldn't be able to carry the puck on his stick, in his hand or anywhere.

Anaheim should change their name back to the Mighty Ducks.

What do you mean? Defending players can knock him on his ass anytime when he does that. Not his fault there wasn't a defender around him or not willing to take the body.

It's the way he picked up the puck in one touch behind the net without interrupting his skating that blows my mind. It's what makes this a goal. He got around to the net before most guys figured out he had the puck.

Fun talent to watch for sure.

If the Ducks ever make the playoffs it will be interesting to see how he handles playoff style intensity / defense.
