I'd be intrigued to see the man run in politics when his career as a player is over....

I mean he totally isn't eligible to run but I wouldn't wanna be the guy to tell Big Z he CANT be president...

Well he said politics not president, nothing stopping him from running for lower positions in office

But honestly someone being highly intelligent doesn't qualify them for a politics position, people can surprise you with their motives

I also wouldn't be surprised if the law was changed eventually to allow folks living in the us and obtaining citizenship to become president eventually anyways, that born in rule is silly, I have a few friends that came here at a young age as refugees and they're more patriotic, good willed, and hardworking than most natural US citizens I know

I don't think as a society we deserve to have such a great leader. He shouldn't have to put up with all of our bull-crap and just go enjoy his time with his family and kids.

More on Chara at Harvard from The Athletic:

As for the All-Star class list, no one knew the roster ahead of time. The athletes stay in the dorms on campus and are told to meet in one of the lounges at a certain time before everyone walks over to the classroom on the first day.

Chara “was surprised that P.K. was there, and P.K. was very surprised that (Chara) was there, so that was a fun moment,” Elberse said.

“They don’t know who is going to be part of it and we don’t share the list until they actually come to campus. No one had any idea, so it was this big unveiling and everyone was a little bit surprised.”

The star athletes used social media to explain why there were all at Harvard last week.

“We’re all regular people,” Chara said. “Obviously, facing P.K. on the ice for so many years with the (Montreal) rivalry, we knew that you can’t avoid some of the tension at times, but this wasn’t about who you play against. It was nice to see that all these people are very successful in their (respective) sport or job. These people are also willing to participate in courses like this and willing to learn and teach others at the same time.

“P.K. was fine. He’s a nice guy. He’s a smart guy. He participated in the classes just like everybody else. He’s just a fun guy to be around and he likes to be outspoken, so that’s a credit to him.”

Perhaps it's just because it's 2:00 am and insomnia causes me to find all sorts of things funny, but his selfie made me think of this:

Again, blame the insomnia

Side note: Slovakia is beautiful. Had no idea.

Thanks for the laugh.

I love Z.

I loved Slovakia for the brief time I was there when we inadvertently crossed the boarder on our way to Prague. Oopsie!

Those mountains make me think of the Sound of Music.

I hope Chara plays forever.

One of the greatest Bruins D ever and a human force like Bourque going strong into his 40.

Even at 57, he would still be an all-star PK #5 in the league.

The longer he plays, the better the Bruins shape.

Good lord, I`m convinced there is nothing Z can`t do or at the very least, doesn`t give a try at. Seems to be one of those rare people who embrace life, challenge themselves in whatever they do, doesn`t ever sit still and rest.

Reading this makes me tired.....and makes me feel lazy

I feel like my "hockey sense" is pretty good on these boards. I think most of my predictions end up being at least "mostly" right.

But, I was dead wrong on Zdeno Chara. Really did not see how he would fit into Cassidy's system, given how I had seen his game regress in the couple seasons prior. But, he did. Thought last year was his best season in the last four.

At this point, if his minutes continue to be slowly reduced, I don't see why he can't go another two or three years with his conditioning. Most of my concerns about him getting beat on the rush as the game speeds up seem to be unfounded at this point.

He seemed to get faster over the last offseason which is a pretty incredible feat at his age and stage of his career.

I think it's more of "working smarter not harder" in Chara's case. He did take some skating coaching which obviously paid off, and it seems he's learned to be more efficient with his skating. He's such a smart player to begin and is taking advantage of that as he ages. I think that knee injury was a wakeup call that he addressed and it's showed the last 2 seasons

Looks like he’s turning 30 this year, unreal. The guy is still in peak condition, looks like he could fight Brock Lesner next week and make it a match.
