Sure, if possible, but why on the 3rd line? Why not defensive skill on the 1st? Why not scoring on the 4th?

Ideally you want players good at all things, but barring that.... if a player does 1 thing well, why would a 1-way defensive player be any more valuable than a 1-way offensive player? And why would you want an offensively below avg 3rd line instead of a defensively below average 3rd line?

#becausethat'sthewaythingshavealwaysbeendone doesn't fly for me

Since you insist on doing your thing...

It's a heads up game. Bottom line is that you need to outscore your opponent.

So 20 goals from someone on any line is only more valuable than what youre giving up.

If your 3rd line doesnt score but can shut down the opposition's 1st line then you can win the matchup elsewhere.

That's why Jim Rutherford is a GM and you arent. #yourenotsmarterthaneveryoneelse

What 3rd lines can shut down a 1st line? BOS' 3rd line is Heinen-Frederic-Backes.. do you want them going up against Crosby? And if you do, that means less time for your own 1st line.

And only 10 goals given up from someone on any line is only more valuable than what you are scoring.
