Cubs now have as solid a rotation in all of baseball, the best young infield in baseball, a better bullpen from last year, ah, this is a great time to be a Cubs fan.

I like this deal for the Cubs. Seems like he's been on a steady decline for years now, but he'd still be considered a 1 or 1a and 20mil a year is pretty reasonable for that. Gonna suck to see Arrieta go though. I liked him a lot.

The only knock on Darvish is durability. Pitched over 200 in a season only once. When he's on he's one of the best pitchers in the game. Excellent pick up.

I mean I guess they could sign him but that would be pretty bonkers since they already have 5 starters with Darvish, Lester, Quintana, Hendricks, Chatwood. Signing Arrieta would be pretty overkill at this point.

Yet people on the MB who dont follow baseball assume thats gonna happen since apparently 3 teams buy up all the free agents every year
