Thanks. I tried them, but to be honest, although they're pleasant and I don't have anything specifically against them, I don't really get much out of these. Interesting that Peon would even be on their radar, though.

Sorry, Sharee. Just got around to the tracks. Yeah, I had listen to the Neu! song before and came away with the same feeling; intriguing but ultimately hollow for me. I just can't seem to get into Neu! besides Hallogallo and even then, only for around 5-6 minutes. The Fela Kuti track was a lot more interesting, though. Liked it's rhythm and charm better, very groovy. Will be giving it other spins.

33. Alice in Chains Jar of Flies

Punisher.. Yeah, I have the Jar of Flies EP in my top 25. I still listen to my vinyl copy.. it was packed as a double-album with Sap. Really good stuff, and at the time it showed a different side/speed of AIC.

I'd probably have their Dirt album somewhere in my top 25 also..

Did you have the Eno albums on your list recently? I don't recall seeing them. What are your favorite tracks from the albums? Nice to see them shoot up, in any event.

Edit: They weren't. Awesome to see you gave them a shot and responded. There's nothing like them. There's also a similarity between the two of us. Whereas I love Taking Tiger Mountain, I think it's a small but clear step below Here Come the Warm Jets and Another Green World.

Yeah I hadn't heard them yet at the time I posted that list. Eno has become one of my favourite artists over the past few months, probably in my top 5. His discography is so extensive and consistently great, it's pretty insane. When I first got into him I liked Taking Tiger Mountain more than Here Come the Warm Jets but over time I just kept going back to HCTWJ. There's something so instantly gratifying about it that I can't explain. As for my favourite tracks from those albums, I actually attempted to make a top 10 songs of his a few weeks ago, here's how it turned out:

1. Dead Finks Don't Talk | Here Come the Warm Jets
2. The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch | Here Come the Warm Jets
3. Golden Hours | Another Green World
4. Charm (Over "Burundi Cloud") | Fourth World Vol. 1: Possible Musics
5. I'll Come Running | Another Green World
6. Taking Tiger Mountain | Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)
7. Sky Saw | Another Green World
8. By This River | Before and After Science
9. Tal Coat | Ambient 4: On Land
10. Cindy Tells Me | Here Come the Warm Jets

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out which tracks I liked most on that Here Come the Warm Jets (it's really difficult because it's a pretty consistent high for me), and I think I'd end up with Dead Finks Don't Talk, Here Come the Warm Jets, and Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch (probably in that order).

I also love the placement of "On Some Faraway Beach" on that album, and the centering feeling it gives you in the middle of all the intense eccentricity.

Great list. Golden Hours and The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch would both be part of my top-3 favorite Eno songs as well. The manic percussions before Eno goes off on that great last verse on the latter is just so rewarding.

I'd rank the tracks on HCTWJ like this.

The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch
On Some Faraway Beach
Baby's on Fire
Here Come the Warm Jets
Blank Frank
Needles in the Camel's Eye
Cindy Tells Me
Some of Them are Old
Dead Finks Don't Talk
Driving Me Backwards

They're all fantastic, though. Really one of the greatest albums of all-time.

Listened to Another Green World again to re-evaluate how it compares to Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy, and while I prefer the high points of Another Green World over Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy (Sky Saw, Golden Hours, the burp-y bass-driven tracks in the beginning, and the ambient tracks in the second half in particular), these tracks still hold it back ever so slightly for me: Sombre Reptiles, Spirits Drifting, and to a lesser degree, The Big Ship. They're not bad songs or anything, but they somewhat interrupt the inspired feeling I get listening to the rest of it.

I also think I just prefer raw eccentricity/humor over polished perfectionism in general.

Rules. No repeats of artists, no beatles. I never list beatles albums or the band in any sort of ranking because I think they are universally liked and their spot is quite secure.

1. Diamond Dogs - David Bowie this album stands out in a career that stands out.
2. Horses- Patti Smith The best album ever by a female artist
3. Joshua Tree- u2 Just brillant from the first song to the last.
4. Neon bible- arcade fire never understood why this didn't get as much pub as funerals.
5. Doolittle - Pixies
6. Songs of Leonard Cohen- Leonard Cohen- best debut album maybe ever. Nothing in pop music comes close to the lyrics we see here.
7 Porcupine - Echo and the Bunnymen
8. The idiot- Iggy Pop
9. Live at the apollo 2 James brown and the Fiery Furnaces. James brown live is the only way to listen to him
10. Stranded - Roxy Music
11. 77- Talking heads
12. Violater- Depeche Mode = guilty pleasure but man this is an album pop artists dream they could make today
13. Houses of the Holy - Led Zeppelin- the album that inspired hundreds of inferior guitarists.
14. Between the Buttons - Rolling Stones. overrated band, and this album came right before the honkeytonk era that ruined them for me.
15. The Village Green Preservation Society- The kinks , The kinks are more than a band that just provided us with some of the greatest riffs ever. 2nd best British Invasion Band
16. Closer - Joy Division. This album is far superior top to bottom than unknown pleasures.
17. Slider - T.Rex
18. Rumors- Fleetwood mac Who doesn't love this album
19. Talking Book- Stevie wonder
20. Paul's Boutique - Beastie Boys
21. Marquee Moon- Television very similar to the idiot, brief but a lot of depth
22. Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy - Brian Eno
23. The Temptations sing Smokey- Temptations. Smokey Robinson was a song writing genius and the Temptations do him a lot of justice in this album.
24. Clockwork Orange Sountrack- Wendy/ Walter Carlos. What Mr/ Mrs. carlos did with album we would not hear again for 5 more years. Without Wendy Carlos there is no Krautrock
25. Stone Roses- Stone Roses
