Can we play Daws against the Capitals? I'm trying not to get too high on him, but we've let both of the other two goalies turf us a game a piece against the Capitals this season.

6-2 win, points by some top guys. Daws with a 0.5 GSAx, almost 60% xGF%.

Can’t wait to catch the highlights!

Thoughts on the game overall??

They got the job done. I'm not sure how I'd feel if they lost to this team with a back to back against a really good team tomorrow.

Imo, Daws was the difference tonight.

The goaltending was even better than the stats suggest because the second GA was ridiculously fluky.
His saves on the Batherson and Tkachuk breakaways (think it was the early 2d period?) when either shooter could have tied the game 2 -2 were game changing. Then Mercer makes that play to put us up 2 and it’s over.

The game was just what the Dr. ordered. Be good to get a point tomorrow but beat Washington finally after that and hang in a playoff spot.

Love to hear it. Especially since OTT has some truly talented players on their roster.

I feel like they're kind of boned for the foreseeable future. They do have some nice pieces but their pipeline is barren. Them bottoming out this year rather than being more mid pack will help them. It could result in this being their 21-22 year but I really don't think they're as good as we were. With some smart GMing they could get their but their road also seems pretty murky

Yea they definitely jumped the gun with the Giroux signing and trading for Cat, but they should be in semi-decent shape with Stutz/Sanderson/Chychrun/Batherson.

Chychrun is a UFA after next year. He seems to love Ottawa but if they don't turn it around and he dips it gets really rough

Watching the replay on the Smith goal (feels weird to even be typing that), what stands out to me most is the awareness and passing accuracy that Nico showed to get him that puck in stride.

Not easy to pick up a rebounding puck after a block, realize the penalty is ending and a breakaway is possible, and thread the pass through a defender, all at the end of a PK shift. Outstanding heads up play from the Captain.
