Devils did not show up until it was too late.

Same thing happened last time with Nico's contract extension.

We might as well forfeit every time a team member gets an extension 'cause it always results in a loss so why waste the fans' f'n time?

Anyway....time for another edition of WHO SUCKED TONIGHT! Yay.

I don't recall Smith defending this poorly last season, but regardless, the kid needs to get stronger and improve his skating if he wants to be a true top 4 Dman. Unless he improves those areas, he is going to be a third pairing player.

Two tough games coming up, we can easily end up going 2-8 in our last 10, streaks like that can kill a season even if they eventually get their shit together.

I've personally given up hope for playoffs though, I just want to see competitive and entertaining games, and to see our guys get better. The type of play displayed in the second is a waste of everyone's time.

He was constantly making the right decisions last year. This year its always the wrong one.

His greatest gift is his IQ and its in the toilet right now.

I’m gonna put my own twist on this since Hughes was really our only good player…

5 WOATS (no order)
Smith
Subban
Nico (effortless game stfu about his secondary assist)
Tatar
Blackwood (first goal was all him and kinda sunk the ship)

Id argue that seeing them consistently score in the third is a sign of major progress as a collective group, whether that be the 'core' or the entire locker room. Thats a level of fight most rebuilding teams dont have until their trajectory starts to point up

Id hope next year we are asking 'can we make the playoffs?' Late into the season.. but this year, I just want Jack Nico Mercer and everyone else to score as much as possible, and our best defenseman be solid in our own end.

They played good in the first half of the first period . They give up a goal and looked like they said F it . Special teams once again screwed them and they couldn’t get it going again until the 3rd period .
Hopefully they will get it one day that they need to play at 100% the entire game and cannot afford to even take a shift off . They do that too often . Seems like they get complacent and ends up costing them goals . They don’t have the firepower yet to coast to victories .

Missed the start of the 3rd but from what I saw I voted Mercer, Sharangovich, and Zacha. Wasn’t impressed with Mercer tonight. He wasn’t making anything happen and had some bad turnovers in bad spots. Zacha was just bad today despite getting and assist. And Sharangovich wasn’t very good either. Lost a lot of battles, had some turnovers, played soft, and wasn’t able to make plays or do anything offensively.

Probably could’ve voted for Smith but I know he’s gonna get a ton of votes anyways, I don’t think his game was a terrible as others think and I think he’s really trying to figure it out. He looks like he has no confidence to me. He’s fumbling pucks, getting rid of them quicker (example: empty net goal) and just doesn’t look like he has close to the same composure and confidence as he had last season. Hopefully he figures it out.

I don’t have any problems with Ruff or the line combinations he tried.

I do think we saw the positive impact of Hughes on the PP. His ability to settle down the play and maintain possession.

Unfortunately we also saw some rust on a couple passes that didn't find their marks.

I do think with the return fof Hughes better days are coming for the PP.

They need to skate and rotate more on the PP though.

You CAN.

It's the FIVE goats, not THREE.

You could pick 5.

Tatar had a goal, was 1-0 in goals for, and pretty dominant in on ice shots for.

Zacha with a nice night as well.

Hughes? I wouldn't rank him as our best player.

It was good to see Jack’s zone entries tonight. Had the puck on a string, at times, but couldn’t connect consistently once gaining the zone. Good signs, though. He’s explosive.

He was bad in the dzone last year. The thing was he was decent offensively, so he it wasn’t as noticeable.

Game was lost due to coaching having horrible lines for entirely way too long. Special teams was godawful.

it would be nice if Nico did more than just get assists, like score a goal once in a while. Going in almost 10 games no goals from him.

he looks slow as well.

Not nice pass by Johnsson to Bratt.

Teams got serious consistency issues. That’s in the coaching staff. 2nd game in their last 3 they shit the bed. Embarrassing.

Send smith down already. Let white play. Find some scoring help. Kuokanen also has been awful this season as well.

I’m not saying that Nico sucks but he has to be better . Yes he has some points and does good things that doesn’t show up in the scoresheet , I get it . However , he looks like he is at 3/4 speed or something . I havnt seen a dynamic play by him for a long time . He needs to pick it up a year here.
I’m not singling him out . Tatar , Shara , Smith , Kuokkanen , all need to pull their heads out of their asses . We have a good team but they need almost everyone to pull on the rope at the same time to win . We don’t have the roster yet where we can get by with only one line or a few guys clicking . They need almost every single player to contribute and that didn’t happen tonight .
Smith Shara Kuokkanen need a wake up call in the A . I don’t know how waiver shit works but they need to figure out how to get those guys going or find someone who will take their spots until they do turn it around
