That's more to do with the overwhelming number of soft players this roster is carrying, not effort.

Eberle/RNH/Schultz playing at max effort level are still going to avoid those types of engagements

So a bad effort is caused by players who put in bad efforts.

The rest of the league is in mid season form. I doubt we win more then 2 games for the next month. Don't think we win more then 10 for the rest of the year. Simply too bad. Players don't give a ****, no drive too much toxic losers in the room. RNH, Eberle, Schultz, Hall. When the going gets tough they sit down, shut up and collect a pay cheque.

We simply aren't s good team. I think we were outshot in most of our wins.
Nilsson played his best hockey of the season during that streak. The team also managed to get a bunch of those games to OT where they seem to play their best hockey. They weren't dominating anybody, they played a hot streak until it ran out.

So a bad effort is caused by players who put in bad efforts.

More like soft players putting in a strong efforts, still results in ineffectual play and poor results.

They couldn't break the trap due to their defensemen, didn't win the puck battles due to their soft players and weak depth, because they are still a poor hockey club. Poor effort doesn't really factor into it.
