Visa issues meant that he arrived at training camp later than the rest of the team. This meant that it took him a lot longer to get up to speed, and as a result he only played in one preseason game where he looked meh.

He broke his wrist months ago and still isnt anywhere close so he decided he wanted to go back to russia. Not the caps releasing him

He is on a one year deal. If he's hurt what is the benefit of holding onto him? All accounts make it sound like he sort of wanted to leave after he got hurt.
