Rielly for Trouba would make much more sense than this deal, and that deal wouldn't make any sense, proposing it would start a war here between Jets and Leafs fans.

We may like to have Nylander, but we don't really need him. Nylander for Dougie Hamilton makes a ton more sense than this.

Rielly for trouba is not something the leafs would ever consider. Value wise it may not be far off, but Rielly is the last player outside of Matthews that the Leafs would move given their current situation.

Trouba's value went down when he signed that 1 year deal. He's going to be 25 looking for a 7M+ deal. He should've been signed years ago for 5M they way Rielly was.

Leafs are able to sign Nylander to a 6-7M/8 year deal.

Idk why I'm even expressing my thoughts, it's Eklund and he is full of it. Plus WPG GM is scared to make trades.

Only problem with this is let's assume best case scenario for the top 2 guys, you have to wait till they are like 24/25ish for them to hit full stride and give you as shot at the cup.

That won't happen for multi reasons.....but yes that group would be scary just as Rielly & Trouba would be as a top pairing for the Leafs be very scary good. But again will never happen.

I guess the way it could work is if Nylander proves himself at centre and Trouba is extended first.

Except neither have any chance of happening. With Matthews, Tavares and Kadri there is no chance for Nylander to prove himself at center, and there is no chance that Trouba is going to sign an extension with a Canadian team.

I would still say the leafs need at least one more top pairing defenseman WITH EXPERIENCE. Look how long for instance it took Reilly to crack 40 points. Any team who thinks they will win a cup with a bunch of their top 4 defensemen under 24/5 are playing with fire(unless you have 1 guy who is just that good say like Doughty).

The Jets don't need another forward. Already have the best forward group in the NHL.

Correction with Nylander the Leafs have the best forward group in the league. The Leafs have Two franchise centres and Kadri who on many teams would be a number 1 centre. Now if they traded Nylander to Winnipeg then it becomes debatable.

Yes it makes zero sense, even before we analyze if it makes sense in an NHL 18 way.

Trouba is rumored to want to sign somewhere in New England. Even if that's not true, Toronto would have to treat it like a certainty because it's not like they can approach Trouba's people and ask.

Plus there is what, 1 year of control for Trouba vs many years for Nylander? And Toronto isn't even allowed to discuss an extension until January, right? (maybe later)

The Leafs are deeper at centre for sure but the Jets have two top-tier wingers and a franchise centre. If you look at all the players, the two teams are similar.

Tier 1: Tavares, Matthews, Kadri, Marner, Nylander
Tier 2: Marleau, Brown, Kapanen, Hyman

Tier 1: Scheifele, Wheeler, Laine, Ehlers, Connor
Tier 2: Little, Perreault, Lowry, Roslovic
