I never understand fans being "mad" about money. We're nowhere near the cap and its for 2 years. If it were 5 years I could understand the rage.

And what Romang said.

I shouldn't be surprised that people think that $4M is big money for a player that has shown that he is, at worst, an average starter.

It's a fair deal. Not totally sure he'll play up to his ability for the duration of it, but he probably will.

I was glad the Flyers moved on because the time was right but Mason held up fantastic despite what was almost criminal defensive corps in front of him with little complaints.

I don't know how far you'll be able to ride him in May but will be rooting for Mason to do very well for the Jets! Best of Luck!

I have no damm idea how this can be called a bad signing.

Perfect term. A very capable goalie that allows Helle to develop more and take the pressure off for a couple years until ready. Money is fine too, but who cares because the Jets aren't near the cap for 2 years anyways, so great deal overall.

Really helps them as they have never had even close to average goaltending. Now they do. Possibly better if Mason can find his old form behind a better D group, or if Helle takes further steps. Either way, this is a waaay better tandem than last year, good job.

Exactly. It's bit more per year than I thought Mason would get but it's 2 years. Jets made a good deal IMO.

Perfect contract. We will know if Hellebuyck is good enough in 2 years, and i wouldn't want Mason when he's over his 30's. Hasn't shown to be good enough to stay with 1 team for many years.

I was scared of a 3+ year deal because Comrie wouldn't get his shot. Give Helle 2 years to prove he's the #1, and Comrie a couple of years to develop in the AHL. This is perfect for us, I'm really happy with it.

I'm pretty sure people just forget that the cap is almost twice as high as it was in 2005. Or people just assume that Mason is playing at the same level he did in Columbus. Either way, people are living in the past.

Best of luck to Mason, he had some fantastic games for us when our D was at its worst. Hope he bounces back with the Jets

Fans get mad because the price of beer goes up when the Jets throw away money that came from the fans in the first place.

if it does not mess with your cap next 2 years not a big deal what you pay him

Jets are going to have a hard time next season with this guy as their starter.

Better than Pavelec, although thats not saying much

He's better than you're giving him credit for. I would have liked him to remain in Philly.

Still it's a good signing. Thought he would take a little less for 4 years but Jets are still committed to the young guys.
