Would I trade an asset for him? No.

Would I take him off waivers? Of course, don't be silly.

We don't need his skill set, and his situation in New York seems like a nightmare, but a free D is a free D.

i asked the Q, think i would not either, dont wanna give up Hoglander.
BUt I would take a cheapp flyer on this guy, he is only 22 and has a strong pedigree ...
dont really agree that we dont want another offensive guy ...can never have too many of those (Avs make it work with Byram, for ex..)

I said yes... but mostly cuz I have very little expectations for the kid.
Here's hoping he takes a big step up in development to be a legit dependable middle 6 option. Hope he can develop a shot if his man strength arrives.

So, JT for Chytll, 2 1sts (later) and a 4th?
I still dont love it …
That’s it. Depends on your timeline. If both those firsts are 2023 you are waiting until at least the 2024-2025 at the earliest to get those picks into the lineup and more likely than not 2025-2026 season to be realistic.

I would have done it still. But obviously my idea for the future differed from management.

I would have tried to flip Chytil to LA for a RHD defender. Signed a good stop gap 3rd line center. Let the season play out. Make the picks and look at making incremental improvement the following seasons.

No way you'd ever trade a first round draft pick for Lundkvist, but the Dallas Stars just did. And a fourth rounder as well.

The first is 'top-10' lottery protected in 2023, but is wide open if it reverts to 2024. Dallas is in desperate 'win now' mode, particularly with the loss of Klingberg. But I have a feeling this deal is going to turn very badly for them.

Kind of like out running a bear, you just have to he faster than the slowest person in your group. Good for the Rangers for nabbing a 1st rounder for him, but if Dallas wasn't willing to pay it then there's a pretty good chance the next team in line wasn't going to offer more than a 2nd or 3rd.
