It depends.

If there's extra cap space available (i.e. Rielly and/or Ceci out for the regular season) I would be disappointed. They should be taking advantage of that and adding something to the backend. You never know what happens next season, so you gotta give it a good shot right now.

If both Rielly and Ceci are expected to return early, you assume Dubas did his due diligence and there was simply nothing worthwhile on the market.

Yes, make a trade if one becomes available, however, don't overpay, and, NO RENTALS.

Trade Barrie if he won't sign a reasonable extension. We can't lose him for no return, or, it makes the Kadri trade look bad.

Depends on what gets moved and the value proposition.

If Jeff Petry gets moved for like 2 1st round picks and a blue chip, hell no, I would rather stand pat.

If I see a Josh Manson for 3rd + AJ (valued) player I will be mad

That trade is already a loss. Unless we make the playoffs and do something special.

The team has a pretty stable group when healthy.

Rielly - Barrie
Muzzin - Holl
Dermott - Ceci
ex. Marincin

With Sandin and Liljegren ready to play a bigger role. That's probably a good enough group to go to war with. Mikheyev is a question mark this year, so moving Kerfoot or Johnsson is less likely. Dillon and Demelo may be out of the Leafs price range given their pick depletion. But, I still think they make a move to push Marincin further back on the depth chart for a mid/late rd. pick.

I voted yes. But only if it's for a defenseman for now and the future. No, if it's a rental, would be happier with more ice time / responsibilities for Sandin and liligren

Why care if its a rental! Dubas is not going to move for a rental if the cost is to high. He said he would” prefer” a player with term. He’d be crazy not to get a rental for Bracco. Teams need offensive wingers that are elite passers. We have no spot for him.

Robertson,Sandin,Liljegren Abromov aren’t going to be involved in any trades regardless. I say change the makeup of the team for the better in any way possible if reasonable.

Im hardly a fan of Barrie but worth noting he only has 4 less points than Kadri.

Ill always like Kadri too, but he hasnt exactly had a stellar season either

Really? Wow. Most people knew that Kadri is quite overrated offensively. I just wish they turned him into a different D, someone who is a better fit. That's all.

I don't get this cities fascination with mediocrity. Nothing against Kadri, Kessel, Bozak or any number of former players, they didn't even win a playoff round while here. It's a team game, it's certainly not any one players fault, but it is what it is. Win or you're just another well paid athlete.

When Kadri played his game as he could, he did very well. When he lost his cool, took silly penalties, or worse, took suspensions that could have cost this team a deep run, he's a major liability.

You make an important point, we've had 4 less points from a D man than a 2nd line centre (who in fairness, has had fewer games) getting PP time. I liked Kadri too, I wished he hadn't taken that suspension and didn't need to be traded, I wish him luck. He's no difference maker on the 3rd line.

Leafs problem for the last decade has been D. I will keep saying it. The closest Leafs came to a Cup final was when they had their best D and only one real line. He addressed the backup position, he has to bring in another Muzzin-type, stay at home guy, and we need to be healthy. We're too thin to afford injuries.

I'm not sure why people keep saying this
Because just like last year when Tampa bay won the cup nothing can change in the playoffs. I’m just playing around but I agree with you. As much as Toronto is so jekyl and Hyde, anything can happen in the playoffs. Toronto really isn’t that far off and adding a top 4 D could really help solidify them.

Yes to a rental at the right price. it might make a big difference in the end.

So yes.

Although would prefer a hockey trade with term if we are to give up pieces.

The Leafs are almost last in the league in goals against!

The Leafs are almost first in the league in goals for.

This year is a write off in terms of actually contending for a Stanley Cup.

The Leafs should be sellers at the trading deadline.

Problem is it is Dubas pulling the trigger on these trades, or maybe not.

This season has gone no-where . . . real fast!

If we had everything you listed we would almost be a perfect team. It's not likely we could ever aquire that with a salary cap. Adding one good defensive specialist could make us a contender imo, provided we are healthy and get good goaltending.

Lots of bottom 6 guys specialize in PK and don't make much money.
