With the selection camp being announced today, I thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread to keep all the discussion in one place.

According to Yahoo, this is the roster:

With 15 forwards, eight defencemen and two goalies named, head coach Brent Sutter needs to release only two forwards and one defenceman.

Disappointed no Gaunce, but can't say I'm surprised.

Congrats to Bo and Shink. Hope they both make the final roster

Not all that surprising Gaunce didn't get an invite, but a little disappointing. He was made redundant by too many defensive forwards in Gauthier, Lazaar and Horvat.

I see Horvat as an absolute lock for this roster. Shinkaruk might be a little on the bubble due to his performance this season, but a lot of that is attributed to his injury and given the center heavy roster, the fact that he's a winger, a proven scorer who can make incredible strides on big ice gives him a very very high chance of making it.

I do like how camp's set up this year though. The roster's pretty much set which allows time for them to build chemistry.

Petan's got 53pts in 26 games. It'd be ridiculous to cut him.

I think they should keep Mantha, Hudon, and Drouin together as they had great chemistry during the Super Subway Series.

Weren't there a lot of people disappointed we drafted Mallet over Severson? Seem to remember that. If so...

Really hope Shinkaruk can make the team and slot in next to Horvat. Horvat started the subway series as the 4C and was the 1st line centre by the end of it. Could see tha happening again - Sutter falling in love with his game.

I would guess one of the skilled bubble guys in Shinkaruk/Leier/Petan/McDavid and one bubble grinder in Gauthier/Girard/Rychel/Anderson will be cut. On defense Bigras/Ekblad/Pelech are battling for that last spot, but I think Sutter will want Pelech there for his toughness. My roster at this point would probably be:

Hudon-Drouin-Mantha
Petan-Horvat-Reinhart
Shinkaruk-Laughton-Lazar
Rychel-Gauthier/Girard-Anderson
McDavid

cuts: Leier, Gauthier/Girard (no idea who's better)

I hate the Gauthier invite.

Petan will make the team as the #2C IMO. Horvat might take his draws, but he'll be high up the lineup.

Leier will make the team.

He's a good skater.

Girard over Leipsic is a pretty big one too. I have French Canadian heritage, but those adds to me seem like HC trying to be inclusive.
