Germany:
82 Final
86 Final
90 Winner
94 QF
98 QF
02 Final
06 Semifinal
10 Semifinal
14 Winner
18 Group Stage
22 Group Stage

Qualified every time. 2 group stage exits are worst results. At least semifinal in 7 out of 11 and 5 Finals. A bit better than France in that particular time span. Obviously fair to say that in the last 25 years France has been better as all their WC wins come from that time span.
Agree with this assessment. France's misses in '90 and '94 really hurt them

Then and there
Ref for the match will be Mexico's Cesar Ramos.

Match certainly has potential to get out of hand, although not to the extent what will certainly happen in some cities amongst the supporters.

Yeah, I'd say them and Brazil. Maybe Germany as well.
82 - 2nd place
86 - 2nd place
90 - Winners
94 - QF
98 - QF
02 - 2nd place
06 - 3rd place
10 - 3rd place
14 - Winners
18 - Group Stages
22 - Group Stages

The last two haven't gone according to plan lol...and France has certainly been better of late...but that's still 2 Golds, 3 Silvers, 2 Bronzes, and 2 QFs before that.

Edit:
Brazil's results

82 - 2nd Groupstage
86 - QF
90 - R16
94 - Winners
98 - 2nd place
02 - Winners
06 - QF
10 - QF
14 - 4th place
18 - QF
22 - QF

2 golds, 1 silver, 1 4th place finish, 5 QFs, no exits in the first group stage, and they always qualified for the tourney.

Too high lol

Luongo def peaked higher than Lloris. good comparator for Luongo is Courtois, IMO. Had moments of being the best keeper in the world, was consistently top 3 for a prolonged period.

Was he consistently top 3? Top 5 I think I could get behind, but consistently top 3 feels a little too high.

In regards to what is underlined and bolded....Adolf hasn't been too happy about the last 2 World Cup performances from Germany.

Here are his reactions to the last 2 World Cup performances from Germany, starting with 2022 and then 2018:

From 2012-2018, I'd say he was 2a/2b with De Gea behind Neuer. After a slow start at Real, he's top 3 again.

Ahead of ter Stegen & Courtois? I think MAtS was better than Neuer some of those years...especially in the latter part of that range...nevermind being better than the rest of the pack.

I always felt like Lloris was more in that 2 tier, with Sommer & Handanovic, a step down from the very best of the best...but maybe that's just because he didn't have that same aura of dominance that Neuer and MAtS had.

PS when did Buffon & Cech fall off? Were either of them still at the height of their powers in the early part of that range?

Typical blueblood behavior. A thread about the first semi-final with an African team and what we get is whichever blueblood team is the most accomplished in the past decades. Some shameful shit.

You're free to debate the relative strenghts and weaknesses of Benoun and El Yamiq in central defense but you might have to do it by yourself.
