Wait a minute, this article only tells that Canadian NHLers are eligible to play at the Worlds.

Other countries would have brought their top players anyway.

Right now I just hope that all the stars who haven't signed in Europe will do so soon. Especially Fedorov.

I second that!!! :handclap:

That line was just plain dominant. I think it was most definitely Canada's best line during the World Cup.

If this truly does become a best on best tournament, then perhaps this would have a greater significance than the World Cup. All the games would be played at essentially a "neutral-site" (Austria isn't likely to contend at a best-on-best), and many of the European sides will have their key players, unlike at the World Cup. I hope that Hockey Canada and the other federations can secure the key players, and that this becomes a big-time event this spring in Canada.

Is Jagr eligible to play for Russia?

Come on, he's playing for Omsk right now, and he's the best hockey player in Russia right now!

I still have my doubts about this article, as it does seem somewhat ambiguous. Does this mean that Hockey Canada is actually committed towards using a "dream-team," or are they going to place a few NHLers with other European-based Canadians. I hope Bob McKenzie comes out with a piece today or tomorrow to clarify things, as he is someone who usually has the correct information.

That said, if Canada were to field a dream team, it would be tough to tell any players on the World Cup that they aren't invited to the team. But since this tournament is in Austria, perhaps you would have to replace some of the grit players with more skilled players, like a Kariya.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It's not like the NHL is a federation.

Somebody else would be better explaining this then I am but because of there being no CBA, there was talk that NHL players wouldn't be able to play. There's probably more to it so like I said it's best if someone else explain it.

Henrik Tallinder - Kenny Jönsson
Andreas Lilja - Dick Tärnström
Niclas Hävelid

Mattias Weinhandl - Peter Forsberg - Niklas Nordgren
Daniel Alfredsson - Henrik Zetterberg - Fredrik Modin
Nils Ekman - Marcus Nilson - Kristian Huselius
Markus Näslund - Michael Nylander - Niklas Sundström
Thomas Holmström

Other notables: Sedin twins, Salomonsson, Svartvadet, Berglund, Hagos, Franzen, Samuelsson, Kahnberg, Jönsson, Nordström, Påhlsson, Axelsson

*Lidström, Norström, Ragnarsson won't play, taking the spring off. Norström plays tier-3 hockey if he is gonna play.
*Sundin is still deciding to play or not

Forwards: Sakic, Thornton, Richards, St.Louis, Lecavalier, Iginla, Doan, Heatley, Smyth, Lemieux, Draper, Kariya. Scratch: Gagne
Bertuzzi hasn't been re-instated to the NHL, and only until that time comes can he play for Canada I believe.

Goal: Brodeur, Luongo, Theodore.

You made this up. The NHL and Hockey Canada is not the same thing. :teach:

FYI: In the World Championships, teams dress 12 attackers, 8 D-men and 2 goalies for each game. Rosters can be up to 26 players.

Actually it's not 12 forwards and 8 defensemen but simply 20 players other than goalies.

I heard it said a while back on TSN that hockey Canada will not allow him to play until he is re-instated by the NHL, they will honour the suspension.

So, I guess TSN made it up.
