Is Rykov/ Volkov likely to make the WJC team next year? Who is the leader on defence for the 97s? I figured it was these two.

You mean leader aside from Provorov, right? From 97 born guys it's probably Rykov/Volkov/Sidorov, maybe Zborovskiy, although currently I don't think they'll make it next year.

I think that the 98 Sergachev is already better than any of the 97s (except Provorov).

I watch more Russian hockey than the average NA fan , but you guys obviously have a better feel for who the selection group favors ( Ivanyuzhenkov for ex on youth teams ). Nevertheless I will give it a shot but I have not seen everyone play :

Svechnikov-Letunov-Lazarev
Kaprizov-Kamenev-Guryanov
Kuzmenko-Kraskovsky-Dergachyov
Pilipenko-Fazlyeev-Korshkov
Lauta

Provorov-Sergeev
Dervuk-Sharipzyanov
Khalikov-Shchukin
Rykov/Nazarkin

Samsonov
Georgiev
Trushkov

This looks sensible to me. It remains to be seen, but I think Sokolov will be there. He outscored Kaprizov and Guryanov considerably at the 5-Nations. Incredible shooter.

Meanwhile Bragin's team won the 4-nations tournament and looks like already some interesting lines produced there:

Zhdakhin-Zhelezkov-Khairullin
Vovchenko-Svetlakov-Pilipenko

Both Zhdakhin (who became top scorer of the tournament) and Zhelezkov already have some VHL experience, so I hope that's a sign that VHL is starting to make bigger impact to Russian player development system.

My forward list is almost exact same except I project 6 lines so in addition I also have Tyanulin, Vovchenko, Svetlakov, Trenin, Nikolishin and Kaurnakov. I manage a spreadsheet for a depth chart based on how the guys are performing during the season. I think all of the mentioned guys above will be invited to the various pre tournament events. Hoping the summer exhibition series takes place again like last year.

On defense I also have Zbrovsky and Boikov who is now the #1 defenseman in Drummondville. I've heard very good things from Boikov's play in the Q this past season. Overall, looks like another all round, very strong team.

Samsonov is injured.

Bragin explicitely named omissions he made because he "knows the player's qualities already" which should be considered locks for the SSS at least.

http://www.sports.ru/hockey/1031368811.html

Lazarev, Nikolishin, Pilipenko, Provorov, Kamenev.

According to Bragin he will give more guys a tryout at a 4 nations tournament right upon return from Canada and after that form his SSS roster.

Why has he called up Dergachyov though? he too played at the WJC. Wants to see if his o-game has improved?

Decent team, looking forward for Kuzmenko to impress.

Bragin also mentioned Vovchenko as the omission.

Kamenev definitely won't be at the SSS, since he will play in AHL, hope that it can be arranged that he will be available for WJC.

I didn't found any information about Samsonov's injury, any link?
