WJC: WJC 2012 - possible teams?

If the NHL released their juniors, Canada would win every year.

Aren't you the country that brags about how you have the best depth in the world and that your B-teams are better than most everyone else's A-team?

So should it really matter if there's 5-6 guys playing in the NHL that are eligible to be on your junior team, what with your infinitely superior depth and all?

Still, the other teams would get utterly erased.

One NHL PPG player (Duchene), one guy who's going to push close to 30 goals (Kane), two guys who are probably going to hit 20 as first year teenagers (Hall, Skinner) and arguably the best available shutdown centre for any team (O'Reilly).

Those guys replace PPG players at this years tournament in the top-six.

Be thankful that teams don't release their junior eligibles, Swedes and Ruskies. That's all I'm going to say.

Again, I can't stand this about Canadians. Either stop saying "Our depth is so superior to everyone else's that our B-team could beat your A-team," or stop playing the "We didn't have our best players" card when you lose. It's one or the other.

Hmm, Collberg and Forsberg needs to show more to have a chance to make the team, William Karlsson should definitely make the team and could be a key player. Klefbom and Bengtsson have started the season weak and will probably have a hard time making the roster.

Some odd years Russia could also benefit from the pro N.A. clubs releasing the youngsters. A few years ago it was Grachev, Loktionov, Anisimov and a few others, Last year it was Burmistrov, Avtsin. So it's not so one sided that only Canadians have that, some people forget that.

Does Nathan Mackinnon have a chance at cracking a roster spot? He's looked pretty strong in the subway series

Really? Because he just missed an open net that would have tied it 3-3.

:)

I have a bad feeling about this years WJR's.

:(

In August, definitely not. RNH, Couturier and Huberdeau all ahead of him down the middle. Now, however, with RNH and Couturier in the NHL and Huberdeau out for 2 months this opens up the door. He has 32 pts in 21 games for a much improved Moose squad as a 16YO. :amazed: I find it hard to not give him a look on this team. He plays like an 18yo and the other option is to send him to the U-17 at Christmas. He dominated this tourney last year with 8pts in 5 games... so that might not be the best option. Watching him in Halifax is a treat, hes as fast as anybody in the league and strong and mature beyond his age.

He's young and still a rookie but he's darn good and would love to see him in the lineup for CAN.

The Swedes are going to be really good regardless. Klefbom just needs time and I think he should be fine

So... based on the Posts I have read, a

Canada-Russia Gold Medal Game

and a

US - Sweden Bronze Medal game

seems to be the consensus of opinion.

After watching the two OHL subway series teams play against Russia you have to think that the Canadians are now the favourites. Team OHL had a lot of very explosive players. Once you take the top players from across the Country, the Canadians look to be VERY strong in what was originally projected to be a weaker crop of Junior players.

Agree, I think the russians are a bit overhyped this year, but they will still be good.

I agree as well.

Our only achillies heel... goaltending (as usual).

Our defense will be our strong suit.

Yeah.. We have probably one of the best offenses ever. But too bad we don't have many good d-men in 92s or 93s. In two years we'll have one of the best defenses ever. But I think we'll have a lack of forwards then. :shakehead
