Since the Avs are not trying to make the playoffs this year I think the best plan is to try to pad Duchene's numbers and make Soda look better to try to dump him:

MacKinnon - Duchene - Rantanen
Landeskog - Söderberg - Yakupov
Wilson - Jost - Nieto
Andrighetto - Compher - Comeau/Colborne

Lindholm - EJ
Zadorov - Barrie
Barberio - Mironov

Varlamov
Bernier

At this point, I'd let the players call their own lines and line changes on the fly....I don't think it will make a bit of difference. There is absolutely no direction, no plan and no light at the end of the tunnel.

Great lines and pairings mate.

Only thing is, is it would be tough to break up Ghetto-Mack-Rants. They had heaps of chemistry and all really produced, even Ghetto.

Barberio has to be on the team in front of Lindholm and Mirinov as well I reckon mate.

NO way we get Hanifin. I have another trade idea:

Duchene and our 2018 firstrounder for Juolevi, Demko, Baertschi, Virtanen, Granlund and Sutter. VAncouver can afford this if only some of their new forwards live up to potential. Suggest we give Vancouver something for Philip Holm as well.

Sutter is a "negative asset", Baertschi and Granlund RFA:s next season and Juolevi and Virtanen has fallen a bit but not much since drafted high. Thatcher Demko might enable us to trade Varlamov and get something for him. We could give all these players the opportunity they might need. And fill in with our quality prospects who establish a winning trend in Santa 1.

Thoughts? Jesper Boqvist as no. 2 as TSN had doesn't resonate well with that crop (2018) being stellar. And if we don't aim for second worst we have only a small chance at the first two picks. Sveshnikov.

This is depth, ladies and gentlemen!:

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Yakupov - Granlund - Söderberg
Baertschi - Sutter - Wilson
Andrighetto - Colborne - Comeau
Nieto - Jost - Virtanen

Zadorov - Johnson
Cowen - Barrie
Juolevi - Mironov
Barberio - Boikov

From an outsiders POV on the east coast.
Not really anything major as far as changes to the lineup. From what I've read it's close to what Avs fans already posted. I posted with Duchene in lineup because he's still an Avs player at this time.

Colorado Avalanche 2017-18 Line-Up

Line 1 LW Landeskog C Mackinnon RW Rantanen
Line 2 LW Duchene C Jost RW Yakupov
Line 3 LW Wilson C Soderberg RW Comeau
Line 4 LW Andrighetto C Compher RW Nieto

1st D-Pair LD Lindholm RD Johnson
2nd D-Pair LD Bigras RD Barrie
3rd D-Pair LD Mironov RD Zadorov

Goalie's:
Starter: Varlamov
Backup: Bernier

Scratched List
C Colborne
LD Barberio
LD Cowen ~ (PTO) < sign to 1yr league minimum deal.

No way the Avs should trade their 2018 1st round DP.

I know. Risk is that this season will be a long one. Ond next season too...

No, the risk is that that pick turns into a generational defenseman and we traded it for a bunch of depth pieces. I know it isn't a guarantee, but you cannot just give away the chance because it may not happen.

And even the 2018 consolation prizes in McIsaac, Smith, and Hughes will probably be better than Juolevi in the long run. I liked him a lot in his draft year but he hasn't exactly lit the world on fire yet. I'll take my chances on McIsaac right now even assuming that Dahlin isn't going to happen.
