But why?

Their defense is great imo.

They need a starting goalie imo.

Our bottom pairing is a train wreck all year.......and we just lost Myers possibly for the year. Yes we need a nhl starting goalie.

Justin Braun + Brendan Dillon for Trouba + Stafford (mostly to even out the cap)

Can't see the Jets trading for anything before the ED. If they did, Myers would have to be traded, can't protect both. Unless we're talking 7th rd pick for a 7-8th D which pointless and who cares.

Upgrading Stuart would seem to be a positive thing to me. But really, I think this team could improve the defence with a coaching change rather than buying an asset.

No sense rushing and adding someone this year. Unless they have another couple years of term. But if thats the case the expansion draft makes it tough. May as well wait until the summer. And my guess is a package around Little+ for an actual top 4 Dman+. Little will be in his last year next year, no sense waiting and trading him for much less at the TD. If the Jets do that and keep Scheifele, Perreault, Petan and Lowry down the middle, or even Roslovic they will be alright. Can even toss in a 3C with a year or 2 left to lessen the blow.

I'd be on board for Davidson for Dano or Lowry.

Gryba could also be had for cheap. He has actually been good for the Oilers.

Seems very lopsided in our favour. Don't see why Pittsburgh would downgrade their defense and goaltending for Connor and Dano.

umm what? pretty sure it's the other way around.. Murray is obviouslly the better goaltender, but it's really hard to know what we have in Helly at this point. I'd do Helly and Dano for Murray, no interest in trading Connor whatsoever.

Dumoulin is there too. He is a quality defenseman in his own right.

Jets aren't making the playoffs so the trade could happen in the offseason.

If this is the criteria, which off-season are you referring to? 2021? ;) :sarcasm:

Just before Chevy starts rebuild IV, with the words "but don't worry guys, there really is not one position on the team that can be upgraded in light of the assets we have acquired all ready." Dreger will follow with a report, "Winnipeg will not make any moves. They are content with what they have. So we can debunk any talks about Winnipeg moves. I am the man. /D-reg"

Case of overvaluing own guys. That trade's massively in Jets' favor and it'd fix most of their issues at once. Connor's a maybe.

Connor is an absolute no go for me unless it's a no brainer. This is not a no brainer imo.

Not sure why there hasnt been a trade yet with boston if Winnipeg are looking bottom pairing help.

Chara-Carlo
Krug- K.Miller
C.Miller - xxxx

Winnipeg has the choice of Liles, Morrow,McQuaid for very cheap. Morrow we'd take a late second. McQuaid and Liles for 5ths/6ths

They have a lot of re-tooling to do before getting the right mix of players over there. Just a very mediocre team overall.

But why?

Their defense is great imo.

Third pairing isn’t very good and Buff’s been playing more min than he should which really seems to hurt his play. Organizationally the team seems to have major issues in identifying what type of defenseman works in the NHL, as a result their AHL D is beyond terrible even for the AHL and even the best call-up candidates are the classic big/physical D with zero hockey IQ and can’t move the puck effectively if their life depended on it.

With Myers out, their guy in the entire organization who isn’t already in their top 4 that is even remotely capable of playing at the NHL level is Postma, and they don’t like him because he’s a “soft†offensive D who struggles defensively at times. (Largely true, but inability to move the puck is a bigger flaw than bad defence. Ideally he’s be a 3rd pairing PP specialist, but the Jets simply have no PP time to give to a RHD.)

My guess is that with the last couple losses they are now far enough out of a playoff spot that they are not so interested in getting a D for this year. When this was first floated they were 1 point out and playing fairly well, or at least well enough to outscore the 3+ goals Pavs was letting in each game.
