Not sure if others have been following this ongoing list by Arctic Ice Hockey, of the top 25 Jet players under the age of 25.

I have really enjoyed reading these evaluations, some excellent insight and write ups on our top young players with great vids.

They are up to #9 on their list, #8 should be announced today. Enjoy!

Who do you think it is?

These are the remaining players.

The actual order is my guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if your order is slightly different.

#8 Petan
#7 Morrissey
#6 Hellebuyck
#5 Lowry
#4 Burmistrov
#3 Ehlers
#2 Scheifele
#1 Trouba

Who do you think it is?

Without knowing the exact ages of all players, you have to think the remaining 8 will consist of the following:

Trouba
Scheif
EHlers
Petan
Morrisey
Hellebuyck
Lowry
Burmistrov?

From that list, I would hazard its between Burmi and Lowry

Agree. I like Burmi & he's in the NHL now (vs prospects) but he sure doesn't rate over Connor or Petan in my eyes.

The Conner write up did say that they wanted to list him top 5 but didn't want to fall prey to the "shiny new toy" syndrome.

With the assumptions on the remaining players that will make the list, I agree that Burmi should have been at 8, 7 the lowest.

Its been so long since I watched him play, maybe I am undervaluing him.

That was just me. :) If I would have voted with my heart, Connor would have probably been my number four pick.

I enjoyed reading the Connor write up the most! It really made me excited over what his future may be.

Nice job!

Connor really does have a complete package. Just needs to fill out.

I, and likely some others, really want to see him verses another class of competition.

I was really high on him last year and I was watching his ranking - relative to the Jets position in the standings - all year. My initial hope was that he'd be on the board when the Jets picked at 10th or so... then playoffs happened... then he fell... then I was fist pumping by myself in an airport.

I really like this kid. I had him ranked 6th overall in this draft class. I also think he (along with Ehlers) is in a class of skill that few others in the system can dream of...

That said, I had him below both Petan and Burmi on this list.

I value known commodities in a big way in these rankings, perhaps too much so. Proven NHL ability with legit top 6 upside is more valuable to me than a 18 year old who also has top 6 upside.

Sure, Connor has a higher ceiling, but Burmi is more likely to be a defensively sound 3rd liner and perhaps more likely to be a strong 2 way player on the 2nd line. Best case for both might be Duchene vs ROR. A step below that perhaps Stafford vs Frolik or Bust vs Burmi. There is a lot of unknown with Connor, even if I am a big fan.

Same goes for Petan. I think his ceiling is 1C, even if it isn't entirely likely. We could be looking at Tyler Johnson vs Matt Duchene. If I am betting on the best case scenario for one, I might as well do the same for the other. If I am betting one will

Agreed if I had to choose I'd take both Petan and Conner ahead of Burmi, but I don't see him being much higher than 7th. Or at least he shouldn't IMO. Burmi is already an NHLer, but the other 2 IMO have much higher ceilings at this point.

Thanks MrBo! Always enjoy reading up on our prospects. ArcticIce has done a very

professional and thorough analysis. I needed to put on some shades while reading!

Nice write-ups!
Does Jansen Harkins remind anyone of Bo Horvat? It just seems to me he has a very mature grasp of all aspects of the game without being spectacular at any one thing. And he's big. And he can score.

Good list.
Only a couple placings that I'd disagree with:
Jan Kostalek should be a little higher on the list
JC Lipon also just a few spots higher
and Jack Glover should be in the honourable mentions section.

I tend to agree about Glover. He's gone into the "show me" section of our prospects, in my opinion. I think we'll have a much better read on him this season when he should move out of the shadow of a strong group of vets.

Do you think he will be before or after Lowry. Who do you think should be ranked higher and why?

Let's look at this slightly different.

If a team wanted to trade for Lowry, what would it take to pry him from the Jets? What would it take to get Burmi? The Jets and other NHL teams, like many of us, likely value them very differently.

I'm considering that when doing a personal ranking of players. Regardless of box scores or fancy stats, teams would value these players differently. So Lowry would be ranked closer to the top, than Burmi, IMO.
