Just chiming in, Winnik was traded for a 2nd in 2016 and a 4th rounder just last year, and Winnik has not really fallen off this year, so you can make the case that he absolutely is worth a 2nd.

Really happy with this deal. Winnik is a solid player. Carrick was a decent prospect but meh.
Trading Laich with no salary retained was a coup. Downgrade a 2nd round pick to a 5th but that's ok.
So much for GMBM being scared. Lol.

Winnik got a 2nd, 4th, and Sill last year at the deadline.

So dumping Laich didn't even entirely cost us Carrick, if you want to think of it that way.

He's an overpaid fourth-line grinder type PKer. It doesn't really help next year's cap much but I guess they could buy him out at a cheaper rate. He's likely better offensively than Laich but he's nowhere close to Chimera for instance and shouldn't crack the top nine.

Smaller right handed PMD. Has been an AHL all star selection the past two seasons. Can play bigger then his size allows him to, not afraid to hit, and will have the occasional scrap. Was Hershey's PP QB last season and has a pretty good shot.
