Winnik (and Stempniak) -- do they sign in the NHL this season?

I admittedly have let my personal struggles keep me away from the (bread and) circus of professional sports more than usual, but I am baffled that Winnik is not in Kuraly's spot at C3... and I thought Stempniak was amazing in every moment he suited for this team in the last few weeks/years. with demotions and opening rosters both announced without official words on those professionally trying out dudes, what do you think happens to these guys? personally, I was psyched to see Stempniak back and absolutely shocked to see Winnik's name pop up on our team. what am I not understanding about Winnik?

You may want to take a look at Winnik’s faceoff numbers. They’re pretty mediocre. He’s not a full time center. He had a good camp in my opinion, and I’d take him as an extra forward, but I wouldn’t want him as 3LC at all.

Stempniak, in my opinion, put up points but wasn’t overly impressive. Looked old and slow out there.

I'd like at least one of them for organizational depth so they don't have to shell out for depth at the deadline like they inevitably do every year. I was for the low-risk Wingels and Stafford trades but there's no reason to make that same deal every single year when at least one of these guys would probably take a cheap one-way deal at this stage of the game.

I like them, Winnik in particular, but I’m not gonna hype him into anything but a good 4th line soldier that will pk for you. They’re both worthy of spots but hopefully elsewhere. Let younger options play and fail if needed.

Have they told these two to go kick rocks yet?

Seriously though with the way the roster has shaped up to start, I'd probably keep Winnik. Granted the only reason I'd want to keep him is it looks like Bjork might end up in the pressbox for opening night, and that makes no sense.

Send them away, please. It seems like we’re always digging through the bargain bin of forgotten misfit players.

Sweeney made it sound like Winnik had a better opportunity somewhere else and Stemp was going to stick around on his PTO here and continue to practice with the team.

Yeah why not for Stempniak. Any scout that seen him play that last game he played vs. Detroit could easily tell he is pretty much cooked. Doubtful any other team would have any interest.

Sweeney should just do him a favor and tell him to go home, like putting an old horse out to pasture so to speak.

My guess they keep Stemp as backup in case a rookie can’t handle a top 6 role. I do t like it, but that’s my feeling I get.

thank you. I feel like he should have made the team... or at least a team in the league he has been very good in. I am surprised that he couldn't find a job in the NHL. why didn't Stempniak stick to his last roster? I feel like most small-market teams could use him well. BOS not as much, although I have only been impressed by his work here.

Dmitrij Jaskin is on waivers till 4pm?

I was thinking noon but maybe not.:dunno:

Blues' Dmitrij Jaskin: Drops to waivers

Jaskin had a decent preseason with two assists and four PIM through four games, but it appears the Blues are sticking with their young prospects Sammy Blais, Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou, who all showed promise in camp. Jaskin, who the Blues picked in the second round (41st overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, is a defensive specialist with a knack for dishing out hits with a team-high 207 last year.

Jaskin wouldn't be a bad pickup for the 4th line, granted we have a ton of those already. He could potentially replace Acciari for 4th line RW. Noel could serve as the 13th forward.
