At the start of the broadcast, the announcers were talking about the fact that all of the teams that looked liked they were out of it and who are hot now contending for playoff spots have made coaching changes.
A coach's message gets stale. Most of the Wings' young guns have never had other professional head coaches Young guys learn different things from different coaches. A variety of influences is often beneficial to for their development. Even if Blashill was a good coach, they are long overdue for a coaching change. Sticking with Blashill for so long is even more of an indicator of Holland's stupidity than all of the Cleary re-signings.
I have been saying this for more than 3 years now, the most imperative thing for the Wings is the departure of Holland and Blashill.

It all starts at the top. Holland continues to try to build a playoff team and all he has to show for his efforts is a team battling for the basement of the league. He's 100% responsible, you can't blame Blashill or Mike Ilitch or Mike Babcock or Jim Nill. This is Ken Holland's franchise. He's had complete control to do whatever he likes.

Will he block Steve Yzerman once again from taking over the franchise? Only time will tell.
