Boudreau?
Wild idea here:
With the Ducks out, I suspect it is a matter of time until Bruce Boudreau is let go. He has his problems (most notably in the playoffs), but he does have a relatively good record with team building and handling youth.
What if we did something similar with Blash to what Colorado did with Tony Granato a few years ago: move him to assistant, and bring in Boudreau as the head coach? For no more than two years. The Wings get the benefit of a new system, a "not Babcockian" way of doing things. Boudreau rights the ship, builds structure around the youth and mentors Blash. Blash retakes the reins in two years, better equipped to handle the full-time gig and with a more solidly build, younger core. Boudreau is there to take the heat in the lean years to come, builds his resume a up a bit, and moves on to the next gig.
Good idea?
Bad idea?
