The thing is, if you're going to trade him, you're going to have to retain. And who wants to retain at least $500k for the next...half decade is it? And even then, what do you get for a $4.5M defenseman with zero offensive acumen and a terrible advanced stats resume? A 2nd and a b prospect? Leaving him exposed shouldn't be out of the question.

Edit: Hell, leave him exposed, protect only XO and Green, and offer your protection spot for a 2nd round pick to a team that needs a D protected, like Nashville, Minny, or Anaheim.
