WINDSOR
Well that game closed out in the shitter. I know our PP is #1 but it is not because of that time wasting multiple drop pass scheme they are mired with. No shots in a tie game while on the pp doesn't cut it. Good pp yes, great no. There is room for improvement. That shortie really hurt and that tying goal just after Renwick scored. Well deflating major league Onuska played well except at crunch time in the 3rd and OT no big saves left in him today when it mattered most. Glad we salvaged a point to be at least in a tie now. This team still needs to learn that 1 simple mistake can and will cost you a game this time of year. Not all negative, it is just the simple things that could have left us feeling a whole lot better. A loss in OT to the Knights still stings no matter what. I am not happy with the 1 point although I will hear different from many. Still lost to to the Knights at the end if the day.

It sucks to lose when leading twice in the 3rd period. That shorthanded goal was on Maggio trying to dangle around two Knights players on the PP and losing it when he had three teammates wide open waiting for a pass. That led to the breakaway goal. Dionicio has the ability to create a goal out of nothing, he's going to be huge for this team in the playoffs.

All in all, it's hard to be too disappointed considering they still got a point and played without Sobolev and Wright. People are forgetting how big of a game-changer Wright is. Hopefully Wright is back Thursday, if not the team owes it to the fans to give some clarity on this injury since he's been day-to-day for a month now.

I like the chances in securing 1st in the conference. London has enjoyed one of the easiest schedules in the OHL so far but that's about to change. Looking forward the Knights have a daunting schedule. After Friday's home game against Sarnia, they have 8 straight road games including games in Owen Sound, Windsor, Sarnia, Barrie, North Bay to name some. Spitfires still have 4 games against SOO/Guelph.

Have to eat some crow here, Onuska had a solid game. Only goal that maybe he could have had was the 3rd one. Really needed a save there and looked like he over played it. Would have been nice to have replays. He was hung out to dry on the Ot goal, was basically a 2-0 by the time it ended. Back checking was brutal and it cost them.
London has a very good team. This year reminds me a lot of 2009. Games between these 2 teams should all go down to the wire.
On to face the Pete's Thursday.

Onuska's best game since coming back and possibly all season. Even so, two goals 40 seconds apart to allow London to tie twice is not acceptable.

4-3 London final. Teams are now tied for first. That said, a five point weekend is pretty darn good.
Agree about the 5 point weekend, disappointed about not getting 6,3rd goal by London should have been stopped by Onuska, not going to pin the OT goal on him solely, should never have gone to OT,is what it is,still unbeaten in 10 in regulation, 9-0-1, regardless we know who the#1 goalie is from here on out,not this 1A,1B crap, its Costanzo 's job to run with ,should or better get 2 of next 3 games as the starter.
PP overall continues to do well,10/32 last 10 games-31.2%, no wonder they are now #1 in that category, PK now is 11th but improving,4-4 today,29/34 in the last 10 games-85.3%,Ottawa is #2 in PK rate,at 83.9%,so the PK now a non issue especially with Costanzo in goal.
Spits have scored 61 goals in the last 10,and have allowed 32,Costanzo has played 6 of those games and is averaging 2.47 and save percentage over 910,Onuska 3 games allowing 13 goals in 3 games since returning from injury over 4.20 average, Michelone 1 game 4 goals.
Onuska in 4 career starts vs London is now 1-1-2-0.
Maggio 1st time since mid November has gone pointless in his last 2 games,he put 24 points in the other 8 games.
Ryan Abraham continues to play well since returning from being off 2 months, has 9 points in his 1st 6 games back.
Even though we didn't get the 2 points nice to see Renwick score again today now has 13 on the season after scoring in his 2nd straight game today,he had 11 goals last year during the regular season.
One player who continues to shine in La Salle is Cole Davis, youngster had 2 goals in La Salle's 6-4 at London today including a penalty shot goal, now has 9 points in his last 3 games there7G,2A.
I would bring him up to play a couple of games this coming week with 3 games on the road out east.
One final thing to add regarding Windsor's PK lately, after going 4-4 today they are now 20/21 on the PK in the last 7 games,95.2 efficiency, impressive, especially considering Sobelev has missed 13 straight games.

Problem with Onuska this season is allowing too many goals-4.15 average unacceptable if u want to start.
For instance he has started 26 games this season so far and has allowed 4 or more goals in 16 of those games and has been pulled 5 times.
Costanzo in comparison has started 27 games this season and has allowed 4 or more goals 8 times, no wonder his average is more then a goal less per game,3.06 compared to 4.15,and in his last 4 games 8 goals allowed.

Anything on Shane Wright? I'm starting to wonder what's going on with this injury...

Was this trade worth it after all
When he's healthy yes, it was definitely worth it. 14 points in 6 games and 1 period. If Wright had played a whole season in the OHL this year, he'd be a 130 point player. Great defensively and on faceoffs. The player they traded has 6 points in 17 games with Kingston.

Explain the differences in average, save percentage, wins, losses, home record all far better for Costanzo then Onuska, afterall he does play behind the same group of D.
joey is playing well above onuska. Joey is and should get almost all the time on the ice.
however joey has saved the defense bacon multiple times this year. defense hasnt learned.

Wright was acquired for the playoffs, not regular season. Patience. I also don't think Windsor is solely in charge here.
Need him in the regular season, having home ice in the 3rd round against London would be nice, or in the finals. If the Spitfires had home ice in last year's Finals, I think they would have won.

Onuska took them to a OHL final last year after a very similar regular season as hes having now
Actually his average in regular season was 3.34 not 4.15.
Yes he was in goal 1st 2 rounds, got hurt in the 3rd series vs Flint and Medina took the Spits to the finals against Hamilton, went 1-1 against Hamilton and didn't see the ice again,Onuska came back and went 2-3 in the process.
He had good numbers 2.77 average in the playoffs, finished 8th in playoff goaltending for the league,Medina finished with 2.05 goals against average and placed 1st in league goalie standings.
Windsor doesn't get to the finals without contributions from both goalies not just 1.
This season Costanzo has been far better in all categories and deserves to be #1.

Somewhere
Both goaltenders have the same D in front of them. The 17yo has a GAA that is 1 goal lower than the OA. But in the biggest game of the year so far. They start the OA.
Yes they do have the same D. But the D can also play different in front of a goaltender depending on confidence level. Plus i think Joey bails them out more with actually making the save when needed to bail out the D.
