That's also why you should never trade for a Tampa Bay Lightning forward.

That’s the problem. Toronto is too cap heavy on forwards. They need to trade F for D

General rule is around 57% of cap for forwards. Rest for D/G. You can exceed thst short term like 1-2 yrs because players on ELC or cheap deals.

13 forwards / 23 man roster = 57%. Not like I agree with that but I think that's where it comes from. Leafs are what? 65%?

Once the cap grows, I have no doubt the Leafs will spend the space on the back end so it will balance out more but will take time after Covid19 flattened the cap

Too true man. Had someone tell me it was actually 53% of the cap, totally straight faced. Told him to go back to his video games and let the adults talk. 53%! Imagine
