It depends on the next 4 games, the next one is Ottawa That's a prime chance to bury a couple, then there is Montreal, possibly without Carey Price, then 2 against Calgary if performs well in those 4 games he has a shot

12 in 16 is very doable. just a matter of playing all those games.

he does finally look healthy though. if he hadnt played through injury earlier he would be even higher.

I'd have to examine the schedule but decent chance. He scores a lot on Ottawa but not so much the Habs so that could factor.

Yup. Super irrelevant to a thread asking if a player will hit a certain total.
Nope. I answered it. Not hard to figure out what I meant by it. Clearly it went over some ppl’s heads.

Matthews is the best goal scorer in the NHL, if anyone is going to do it this season it will be him.

Currently at 28 in 37 which puts him on pace for 40. Needs to 12 goals in the leafs 16 remaining games.
It's gonna be close but I voted yes. He's a scorer and I think he can do it. Btw @olli, is that a D4 you're smoking?

No, I think he'll fall just short, with 36/37 goals. Still an amazing feat though, and likely good enough for the Rocket.

I'd say yes, he plays really well against the Jets and Habs and those are the teams the Leafs face the most between now and the end. Can't remember how many he's got against the Canucks or Flames.

Good chance he will. He has played half of this season injured with his wrist and still managed 31 Goals in 38 Games thus far.

Opposing teams goalies must be shook when he is on the ice. He is lethal.

He's literally scoring over a goal per game this season when his wrist hasn't been hurt.

I wish. Even if he is playing on a rival team, I always want a player to do as good as he can. If he can get 40+ in 50ish game, thats one heck of a good pace.

Not gonna lie, 31 in 38 is freaking impressive and people aren't impressed that much (prolly the "hate" on the Leafs factor).

Gaborik scoring 30 in 48 was almost more talked about that that. Its sad.

Nothing to do with the fact that he’s a Leaf and everything to do with him being in the North.

If he scores at a 60 goal pace in a normal schedule people will respect it more.

Matthews has only played one season in the North, scoring 30+
He has played his other seasons against the rest of the league and scored 30+ in each of those seasons.
Man is a beast. Leafs get frazzled as heck against the Senators though, we are a dagger to their hearts. That is really my only consolation.

Uhm he scored 47 in 70 last year which is a 55 goal pace and that was with a normal schedule. The bottom feeders in the west and east division are worse than the north.

You don’t get credit for being injured. Scoring 47 in an 82 game season is simply scoring 47.

This season it is fair to prorate since the season is truncated.

He wasn’t injured, it wasn’t an 82 game season last year for any team. Do you live under a rock? The season was cut short at the 68-70 game mark depending on the team because of the Pandemic.

literally you’re previous comment says 60 goal “pace” then you discredit his 55 pace last year because of the NHL shutting down when he didn’t miss any games due to injury...

Matthews had 47 goals last year in 70 games, when the league shutdown.
