Assuming this is tongue and cheek - the guy has passed on 3 layup ENGs already this season to get his teammates hatties. Glad to see him start to snag them himself!

Ovie doesnt really do ketchup scoring , when hes hot he scores 1-2 goals almost every game for long stretches .

No, Ovechkin has heard about Laines goal scoring ability, and he will give up like he always does. He's going to stop scoring goals, and fade into oblivion while Laine takes the top spot. -Sarcasm

Obviously he will "strike back" the guy only has one gear, and its pure, unrivaled, goal scoring madness.

I doubt he pays attention to Laine to be honest. He's been in the league for a long time, and he's seen lots of players put up a lot of goals. His goal scoring ability is actually one of the few constants that the league has had for a decade.

As many are probably aware, Patrik Laine scored 5 goals on Saturday night, which put him past Alex Ovechkin in goals for the season.

So now the key question is: Will Ovechkin strike back?

Ovechkin and Laine are in DIRECT COMPETITION with one another.

Laine seems to score in bunches and then go cold while OV is consostent like a dam' robot. I always bet on consistency.

I disagree with you about "high streakiness" of Patrik Laine as an absolute measure, but I agree with you if it's used as relative measure in OV-Laine comparison (over directly comparable careers since 2016-17). OV is probably The most consistent goals scorer playing there, if not the most consistent all time (among top scorers). Ovi is the standard and measuring stick we compare other players and how streaky they are.

PL's streaks and slumps are typically slightly longer than OV's, but can we truly claim that PL is "streaky"? He is more streaky in relative comparison to OV, but can we say he is that generally in absolute sense of the word? I think we cannot.

This would be actually good topic for a thread to discuss what exactly constitutes a player being streaky or consistent (both in goal scoring and overall scoring), but I am wrong person to start such thread. Question itself is interesting.

The main issue that no one is talking about is this, Ovi bought a special trophy case for his rockets... It only has space for 7 though, so instead of winning he's going to let someone else win from now on, the trophy case was too expensive not to use....
