THIS is what Guerin is spending his time doing? We really needed another over the hill, plodding Dman?

Are we up to like 8 defensemen on one way contracts now, or is this just 7?

If Cramarossa and Rau play NHL minutes in front of Rossi and Boldy, see you next year, or 5 years from now. What a waste that would be. No reason to even follow the games.

Guerin’s got to be tanking at this point, right? Next step would be moving Dumba and/or Brodin.

If people are worried that Addison can’t beat out Benn. We got serious concerns with Addison. This is a Depth signing nothing more.

What have you seen from BG and Evasion that gives you any impression it will be an open competition between the three older plugs with experience on one way deals vs a to prospect on an ELC?

Who played more NHL games last year, Kyle Rau or Matt Boldy?

Ya, i don't think that Guerin is paying Merrill 850K or Benn 900K to play in the AHL. He is loading up on size and experience in the back end rather than speed, youth, and skill(Menell and Addison).

Well, he's a GM that's talked about getting younger and faster.... Until it's time to play. Now he's putting roadblocks in that.

Again people put way too much stock in what a GM says publicly. And bringing in guys on cheap one year deals isn't necessarily creating roadblocks. Depth and competition are not bad things.

Giving young prospects playing time on a team that is going nowhere in the short term is the way I would like to see us go. Addison, Boldy, Menell, maybe Dewar, etc. are going to make mistakes in the NHL, but they will never develop if they aren't given chances. Guys like Merrill, Benn, Bjugstad, Rask, Rau, Cramarossa have proven that they are fringe NHL'ers at best who are not getting any better.

Seems that there is a middle ground between "giving" prospects a spot, and allowing them to at least get some decent NHL minutes. The future of this team is certainly not with the Jordie Benns of this world.

Loading up on slow guys...yikes.

This competition thing is crap. This may work at lower levels, but none of these players reach this level without an intense desire to compete, both with their teammates and against the players on the other teams. I don’t know where this false narrative comes from.
