I know this may be a late post but i never really understood why Michael Ryder was never re signed for the habs after playing, from what i saw, some pretty good hockey. Just a question to clear some things up
Because why have Ryder when you can have a gem in Brière for 500k more?
...
Yea that's true. I forgot about the signing of briere
His agent announced that Ryder would be taking his chances on the open market well before July first, so it's not like the Habs had a choice in the matter.
Therrien demoted Ryder to the 3rd line off of the Pleks line when they were the top scoring line. Therrien replaced Ryder with Bourque.
Mutual disgust from Ryder and Therrien.
Its a shame. The guy could score goals. Therrien's biggest screw-up since coming back.

lol no. Therrien did the right thing.
Yeah right...because Ryder is such a useful player on a 3rd line.
Ryder rack up most of his point when it doesn't count totally disapear down the strech and in the playoff, lack speed, physical play and doesn't create any space for is teamate and he need a GPS to find the defensive zone.
Ryder didn't have a great attitude and didn't want to play in MTL he even skip on the last day
Although I really didn't approve of Briere I think he is better than Ryder, even if it just to get the media off MB back
