Why isn't Lupul on line 1? He's much more productive than JVR.

JVR - Kessel are beastly. No sense in breaking that up. Lupul will be able to carry the majority of the offensive load on Line 2 since Bolland and Clarky will be the ones in the corners

So your grouping of most productive players stops at Bozak eh?
Why wouldn't you have Lupul on line one? He's a ppg player with both Kadri and Kessel, much more productive than JVR

I have no problem interchanging JVR and Lupul, unlike Bozak they can both produce.

Because Kadri has fit in great with Kessel and JVR. Lupul and Bolland have done very well together this season as well.
Yet Kessel and JVR have been fine with Bozak and Lupul is a ppg player with Kadri (who is also a ppg player), so which is it? If Kadri should be on our top line because he's the best player, should Lupul also not be there?

Kessel and JVR are great together, seemingly better then Kessel and Lupul. They stay. Putting Kadri with them makes them better then with Bozak. Line 1.

Lupul, along with Bolland have had good chemistry this season, a big part why both are off to great starts this season. Clarkson is a natural fit with the both of them. Line 2.

Bozak, and Kulemin have had some success in the past when playing together, altough limited. Those two would be a very solid shut down pairing. Add in Mason Raymond to be the "scorer" and it forms a very solid third line.

Then McClement with any 2 or Broll, Ashton, Orr, Smith, McLaren etc.

The point is that the "big 4" of Lupul, Kadri, JVR, and Kessel are all extraordinary talents and can be productive regardless of whom they are put with or the situation they are in. The same cannot be said for a guy who isn't even close to their tier in terms of talent level. On one hand we've got a guy who when healthy is a top 10 LW in the game and on the other hand, we have a replacement level C. It's not difficult to see why people want Bozak to be replaced with Kadri on the top line.

Lupul is ppg with Kessel, how is JVR better. Lupul is PPG with Kadri. How much better would Kadri be with anyone else? How many points does LUpul have not playing with these two?

Raymond - Bozak - Kulemin would be a damn good 3rd line.

JVR - Kadri - Kessel
Lupul - Bolland - Clarkson
Ramond - Bozak - Kulemin
Plug - McClement - Plug

Yeah it would be... but so is Raymond-Bolland-Kulemin.

The problem with your suggestion, our 2nd line would be dreadful. There's nobody to be the playmaker / catalyst for Lupul. He's never been successful without that type of player on his line.

Basically none. Lupul was a throwaway in Anaheim because he wasn't playing with skilled players. In Toronto, he's always had the luxury of playing with either Kadri or Kessel. There's absolutely no sense in wasting his talents by putting him on an island.

The point is that the "big 4" of Lupul, Kadri, JVR, and Kessel are all extraordinary talents and can be productive regardless of whom they are put with or the situation they are in. Reality is... they're not all extrodinary talents. Kessel is an extrodinary talent. Kadri is our 2nd best catalyst. Guys like Lupul & JvR will be extremely productive if they are played with somebody who can set them up, but they're not going to do much on their own. It's why having JvR with Kessel and Lupul with Kadri works so well.

I think they could provide adequate secondary scoring yes.

You don't? Based on?

A strange opinion... especially considering that JvR and Clarkson have both been players which rely on a catalyst to generate chances, and Bolland's career has made it abundantly clear that he cannot 2nd line centre position, despite there being a massive void in Chicago there for most of his career.

Nah, he'd be on our top line anyway. JVR would carry line 2 since Lupuls the better winger and deserves to be on the top line.

Have you guys not watched Bolland-Lupul? They have been very good. That is where most of both their points have come from

Feel free to show me the breakdown of Lupul and Kadri vs Lupul and Bolland.

For the record, 7 of 11 of Lupuls points involve the name Nazem Kadri. Bolland and Lupul? 2. Both in game one of the season.

I'd be curious to know... what percentage of Lupul's points as a leaf have one of Nazem Kadri or Phil Kessel involved?
