I get Hughes thought process. Romanov for 13 was a no brainer. And at 13 do you trade for Dach, or do you take Kemmell/Lekkerimaki/Nazar? I trade for Dach. Now that you have Dach I can get behind the Slafkovsky selection. At 26 we should have taken Kulich though IMO. I like Mesar but Kulich would give us a left side sniper which we don’t have and has a good all around game as well.

When the trade was made they were only at the 3rd, or 4th overall pick, so there's no assurance who would have been there.

At 1, Wright, Cooley or Slafkovsky... not another player. So i'm happy with that.
At 26, I wanted Miroshnichenko but Capitals took him at 20 and Gaucher Anaheim took him at 22. I wanted Brad Lambert too, but Filip Mesar is a really solid pick.
At 33, I wanted Firkus, Hutson (so i'm really happy that Habs get him at 62). Beck is one of the players I wanted with 33 too, so great pick there.
At 62... Hutson is a dream pick right there.
At 75, Rohrer is one of these players I wanted with Minten (Great pick by Toronto at 38), so i'm happy with that.

Guindon and Engstrom looks like a great pick too, I wanted Guindon with Habs so i'm happy with that.

Overall I’m pretty happy with the draft a few days later.

I’m not upset with any of the picks we ended up making, especially given how Wright ended up going 4th. Had he gone 2nd I might still be upset about that one.
