Interestingly Suter and Blueger typically get close to 15 min in ice time which doesn't leave enough for Miller and Petey so you can expect Tocchet to push both to play harder in the minutes they do get. I don't really see a 3-4 thing as much as one will play a more offensive role with Garland while the other will mop up tougher in zone and defensive assignments. Depending on whether we're chasing or leading one will play more than the other.

I agree that PDG might be a better overall player than Joshua but what we saw last year was a breakout for Joshua and he is really hard to win puck battles against which wears teams down. At the end of the day he has more value being in the lineup when PDG replaced with any of Pearson Podkolzin or Hoglander is not gonna be a loss and arguably gives us more.

It's a mixed bag. If your measuring stick is offense, then Suter is clearly the better player. But if you're looking at a shutdown center; a faceoff specialist; and a reliable player on the PK, then Blueger is probably your guy.

Wouldn't surprise me that if Suter were to get off to a hot start, he might wind up playing higher in the lineup and possibly even on the wing.

Make my day.
Neither and/or both

Blueger: Depth harder defensive minutes

Vs

Suter: Depth offence focused minutes

Two different roles. The importance of which is personal preference.

The question I guess, is how much untapped offense Suter might have? In both Chicago and Detroit he played well down the lineup, and was saddled with some real slugs on his wings. He was largely seen as a depth center and penalty killer.

I hope he gets a shot playing some decent wingers for at least part of the season. If could bring 15 goals and 35 points to the table, it would be huge.
