The knock against the Calder is Ovechkin was a year older when he won it.
The difference between a 19 and 18 year old can be significant.
Two years older actually

In the end...two cups and a smyth...who cares about the rest...
Crosby currently has 10:
2x Art Ross - 2006/07, 2013/14
1x Rocket Richard - 2009/10
3x Ted Lindsay - 2006/07, 2012/13, 2013/14
2x Hart Memorial - 2006/07, 2013/14
1x Mark Messier NHL Leadership - 2009/10
1x Conn Smythe - 2015/16
Ovechkin currently has 14:
1x Art Ross - 2007/08
6x Rocket Richard - 2007/08, 2008/09, 2012/13, 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16
3x Ted Lindsay - 2007/08, 2008/09, 2009/10
3x Hart Memorial - 2007/08, 2008/09, 2012/13
1x Calder - 2005/06
It seems like Crosby is in line for a few this year. Who will finish with more?

Crosby wont win any this year.
There's no knock. Ovechkin won, in a landslide, because he was way better.
The difference between a player who has trained on NHL ice and lived in NA their whole life vs a player coming to a new culture, language and playing style is a way bigger difference than a 1-2 year age gap. Funny how Ovechkin's side of the story is always left out.
but y u mad tho
how was he way better?
a 1 - 2 year age gap is pretty significant for a teenager

Way better? Didn't Ovechkin finish with 106 points to Crosby's 102? If that's being WAY better while being 2 years older, well, your criteria for being "way better" is weird.

He's making a reference to the voting for the Calder, where Ovechkin had 124 first place votes to Crosby's 4.
And Crosby stubbed his big toe in every season Ovechkin won an award, so we can ignore those as well. 10-0 Crosby so far.
So now the Calder isn't considered a major award?
The bias is unbelievable. I bet if Crosby or McDavid had won it it would Be "major".
It should be Calder, Ross, Hart, Lindsay, Richard and Smythe (even though this is a post season award).
Ovechkin will finish with more individual awards but he won't come close to Crosby's team stuff as he wasn't born in Canada.
Smythe
He said he won in a landslide because he was WAY better. That's false. He was better, but not "way better".
