2x Hart Memorial - 2006/07, 2013/14
1x Mark Messier NHL Leadership - 2009/10
1x Conn Smythe - 2015/16

Ovechkin currently has 14:

1x Art Ross - 2007/08
6x Rocket Richard - 2007/08, 2008/09, 2012/13, 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16
3x Ted Lindsay - 2007/08, 2008/09, 2009/10
3x Hart Memorial - 2007/08, 2008/09, 2012/13

It seems like Crosby is in line for a few this year. Who will finish with more?

Crosby wont win any this year.

The knock against the Calder is Ovechkin was a year older when he won it.

The difference between a 19 and 18 year old can be significant.

There's no knock. Ovechkin won, in a landslide, because he was way better.

The difference between a player who has trained on NHL ice and lived in NA their whole life vs a player coming to a new culture, language and playing style is a way bigger difference than a 1-2 year age gap. Funny how Ovechkin's side of the story is always left out.

how was he way better?

a 1 - 2 year age gap is pretty significant for a teenager

but y u mad tho

How is he mad? Spitting the truth is mad now? Crosby will end up with more awards for sure, but in the end it will always come down to how many cups vs how many cups sadly and even though that's a team award, it still adds to that trophy case.

I don't get that either. Ovechkin was probably more prepared playing against some Russian legends as well in the KHL at the time before he came over vs a teenager that came from a Major Junior league to the NHL. I mean that's if you want to use that excuse, neither should be used in this scenario to make one or the other more impressive.

Ovechkin will go down as the greatest goal scorer in the past decade and a half, Crosby will go down as the most complete elite player in the past decade and a half. Each has their claim to fame.

He was way better because he had more pts, way more goals and a pretty much unanimous calder win.

1-2 years is a big gap sure, I'm not denying that. But coming to a new country/language/culture/playing style isn't a significant thing? I'd say it more than balances out.

Way better? Didn't Ovechkin finish with 106 points to Crosby's 102? If that's being WAY better while being 2 years older, well, your criteria for being "way better" is weird.

I would be curious to see the top 5 trophy cases for active NHL players. I am guessing Jagr and Malkin are there with Ovie and Sid. Maybe Kane?

He's making a reference to the voting for the Calder, where Ovechkin had 124 first place votes to Crosby's 4.

And Crosby stubbed his big toe in every season Ovechkin won an award, so we can ignore those as well. 10-0 Crosby so far.

Its insane how close Crosby is when you consider all the injuries he's had compared to Ovechkin

So now the Calder isn't considered a major award?

The bias is unbelievable. I bet if Crosby or McDavid had won it it would Be "major".

It should be Calder, Ross, Hart, Lindsay, Richard and Smythe (even though this is a post season award).

Ovechkin will finish with more individual awards but he won't come close to Crosby's team stuff as he wasn't born in Canada.

and because his NHL team hasn't won anything.

He's gotta get out of the 2nd round first. This certainly looks like the year to do it, but I'll believe it when I see it. And no, I'm not blaming Ovi. He's been a great playoff player. I'm just saying.

I think crosby will pass him over the next few years. That said, 6 rockets is by far the most impressive stat listed

Crosby will win the rocket this year, and i think he still can win another lindsay and ross. I think Ovi still has another rocket left in him. Messier doesn't mean ****. So at the end of their careers maybe maybe 15-12 Ovi. Crosby could get more depending on if he stays healthy and Ovi could get more then 1 rocket if he returns to 50 goal form.
